Overview

Join our team as a Senior Technical Writer and support the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) Office of Communications by producing and refining reports, policy documents, and internal/external communications. You will draft, edit, and format federal documents in close coordination with subject matter experts, ensure documents meet federal plain-language and style standards.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm with periodic onsite work as needed at TIGTA headquarters in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and format reports, policy documents, procedures, and internal/external communications products for TIGTA leadership and program offices.
  • Review and revise draft materials for clarity, organization, grammar, plain language, and adherence to agency style/formatting standards.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to gather technical/operational content and translate it into clear written guidance.
  • Perform editorial quality-assurance reviews, including proofreading, formatting verification, and citation consistency checks, and deliver tracked-changes edits and finalized versions.
  • Support development and maintenance of document templates, writing guidance, and editorial standards used across agency reports and policy documents.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a closely related field.
  • At least 8 years of specialized experience in writing, editing, and federal document development.
  • Strong ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust (Moderate Risk, Tier 2) federal background clearance.

Desired:

  • Prior experience supporting TIGTA, the IRS, or another tax/financial-oversight organization.
  • Familiarity with federal plain-language standards and TIGTA/Treasury style-guide compliance.
  • Experience coordinating input from subject matter experts across multiple program offices.
