Job Summary

The Power BI Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise business intelligence solutions that transform complex data into actionable insights for strategic and operational decision-making across Sims Crane & Equipment. This role partners closely with business and technology teams to develop scalable Power BI dashboards, data integrations, and reporting solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in enterprise reporting and data platforms with a financial acumen. This position will develop and maintain financial models, KPIs, dashboards, forecasts, and data-driven insights utilizing Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

Key Responsibilities

Data Analytics & Data Management & Integration

  • Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data extraction processes using Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Utilize Microsoft Fabric to support enterprise analytics, data modeling, and reporting initiatives.
  • Collaborate with application development, finance, and business stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and analytical opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data integrations between ERP, CRM, HR, operational, and other enterprise systems.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from SQL databases, APIs, cloud platforms, and third-party applications.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify performance trends, root causes, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Validate financial and operational data integrity across various business systems.

Business Intelligence & Reporting

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and scorecards for executive, operational, and departmental reporting.
  • Build and maintain financial and operational KPIs across multiple business functions.
  • Create automated reporting solutions that improve data accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Develop SSRS reports to support operational and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure reporting standards, documentation, and data governance practices are followed.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes.
  • Develop financial models to analyze revenue, profitability, utilization, labor costs, and operating expenses.
  • Perform variance analysis comparing actual results to budget and forecast.
  • Identify business trends, risks, and opportunities and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial performance reporting.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Procurement, Billing, and Executive Leadership to provide analytical support.
  • Support ERP, reporting, and data modernization initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvement projects focused on increasing operational efficiency and reporting effectiveness.
  • Prepare executive-level presentations, dashboards, and supporting analysis for leadership meetings.

Qualifications

Skills:

  • Microsoft Power BI (DAX, data modeling, dashboard development)
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
  • Oracle PL/SQL
  • Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
  • Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, Power Query, Pivot Tables)
  • ETL processes and data integration concepts
  • Data modeling and relational database structures

Experience with the following is considered a plus:

  • IFS Cloud ERP
  • Microsoft Power Automate
  • Data Warehousing
  • Microsoft Azure Data Services
  • Financial Consolidation and Planning tools

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field. Knowledge of Finance, Accounting, Economics is a plus.
  • 3-5+ years of experience developing business intelligence, reporting, and data visualization solutions using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. 
  • Must be able to read, speak, and understand English.
