We're currently expanding our experienced engineering squads.

We are eager to meet Android engineers who can realize innovative, robust, and creative solutions to complicated development challenges in an end-to-end product development environment.

Your role would be to develop Android applications using the Android SDK and Kotlin, following best practices and using standard development tools.

We are currently looking for engineers to join us on the following project:

Garmin Explore Outdoor App: We provide our customers online and offline mapping (real-time tracking, trip planning) and satellite text messaging (and other important features like Weather over-the-air) through the Garmin Explore ecosystem. Our SOS satellite communication features rescue people every single day with inReach capable devices.

We believe that collaboration leads to the best ideas, and we rely heavily on team interaction. As a role based in Cluj-Napoca, this position will require 5 days in the office each week. 

Responsabilities

  • Create and execute designs for software components within a larger project;
  • Mentor and provide guidance to less experienced Software Engineers;
  • Collaborate and add value through participation in peer code reviews, providing comments and suggestions;
  • Estimate level of effort, evaluate new options of similar technology, offer suggestions to improve processes;
  • Perform technical root cause analysis and outlines corrective action for given problems.
  • Strong knowledge of Kotlin and Android SDK knowledge, Jetpack Compose, Android Studio, OOP, data structures and algorithms.
  • 3+ years of experience in Android development.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies. 
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • BSc in Computer Science, IT or similar.
  • Proficiency in English.

Would be a plus: 

  • Experience with the Bluetooth/BLE stack. 
  • Mentorship experience
