JOB SPECIFICATION – AZURE DATABASE ENGINEER

Reports to: Director, Software Development

Classification: Exempt, Full-Time

Location: Mount Laurel, NJ

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

RMX Holdco, Inc. and Subsidiaries (AKA “RhythMedix” or the “Company”) is a rapidly growing provider of remote cardiac monitoring services. The Company focuses on improving patient care through the use of patient-friendly devices and mobile communications to diagnose and treat heart disease faster.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Azure Database Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL environments. The ideal candidate will have a passion for database performance optimization, query tuning, and application data architecture, while working closely with software development teams to ensure scalable and reliable data solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and optimize databases hosted on Azure SQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.
  • Analyze and improve database performance through index optimization, execution plan analysis, and query tuning.
  • Monitor database health, capacity, availability, and security.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to optimize data access patterns and application performance.
  • Review and improve Entity Framework Core (EF Core) data access code, LINQ-to-Entities queries, and ORM implementations.
  • Participate in database design, schema changes, migrations, and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to data access, performance, and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain data archival, backup, and recovery strategies.
  • Support cloud-based data solutions and contribute to data platform modernization initiatives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-8 years of hands-on database administration and development experience.
  • Strong experience with Azure SQL Database and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL development and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience with database indexing strategies, query optimization, and execution plan analysis.
  • Experience working with Entity Framework Core (EF Core) and LINQ to Entities.
  • Solid understanding of ORM concepts and data access optimization techniques.
  • Experience troubleshooting and improving application and database performance in production environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Azure Storage, including Table Storage and/or Cosmos DB.
  • Experience with Data Warehouse and/or Data Lake architecture.
  • Knowledge of Data API Builder (DAB), Model Context Protocol (MCP), or modern SQL-based API solutions.
  • Experience in healthcare, medical software, or regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services, monitoring, and automation tools.
  • Able to work a hybrid schedule and commute to Headquarters on required weekdays.
