As a DevOps Engineer Trainee, you will work in a large-scale R&D environment where modern software delivery, automation, and platform reliability are essential.
You will learn from experienced engineers and contribute to real CI/CD and platform engineering solutions used by product teams. You will have the opportunity to work with technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitOps, Python, Linux, observability tools, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, learning, experimenting, automating, and continuously improving systems. You are the type of person who sees repetitive manual work and naturally asks:

Position: Internship Duration: 12 months Start date (tentative): August, 2026 Location: Hybrid in Aveiro or Amadora, Portugal Education Recommendations: Currently a candidate finishing their BSc or MSc degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Learn and contribute to enterprise-level CI/CD, DevOps, and Platform Engineering solutions.
- Support Kubernetes and OpenShift deployment, operations, Automation, troubleshooting, observability, and monitoring.
- Develop automation using Python, Shell scripting, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitOps, and related tools.
- Participate in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and reduction of manual operational work.
- Explore AI-assisted engineering tools and collaborate with experienced engineers to improve developer productivity and platform reliability.
Qualifications
We would like you to have:
- Ongoing or recently completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Strong passion for technology, continuous learning, problem-solving, hands-on experimentation, and AI-assisted engineering.
- Practical experience or strong interest in Kubernetes, including core concepts such as Pods, Deployments, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Git, GitOps, Linux, Docker, Python, Shell scripting, cloud-native technologies, modern DevOps practices, and AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar.
- Good communication, collaboration, self-learning skills, proactive mindset, and willingness to take ownership of learning and improvement.
- Good communication skills in English are mandatory.
Candidates who demonstrate strong passion, practical hands-on experience, and relevant Kubernetes or cloud certifications will be considered priority candidates
