About RDA

RDA is a strategy-first, AI-driven digital consultancy that partners with enterprise organizations to deliver scalable digital solutions across strategy, engineering, and data. Proud to be a multi-year Great Place to Work certified company.

About the Role

RDA is seeking a hands-on Software Architect to define the technical vision for complex custom application, AI, and MarTech engagements. You will translate business requirements into scalable, secure architectures and guide solutions from discovery through delivery.

In this client-facing role, you will architect production agentic AI solutions, establish governance and observability practices, and ensure appropriate human review and controls. You will remain hands-on with tools such as Claude Code while leading teams, supporting pursuits, mentoring engineers, and contributing reusable patterns and accelerators.

Location: This is a remote U.S.-based position.  Candidates located in the Eastern time zone are preferred, with Central time zone candidates also considered.  RDA is unable to hire candidates residing in California, Colorado, Oregon, or Washington.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead technical discovery and define end-to-end architectures for custom application, AI, and MarTech engagements, including system diagrams, data flows, integration patterns, and technical roadmaps.
  • Architect and help deliver production agentic AI solutions, including tool use, function calling, multi-agent workflows, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, memory and state management, and autonomous task orchestration.
  • Use Claude Code and other modern AI-assisted development tools to build, validate, troubleshoot, and accelerate solutions while maintaining strong engineering and security standards.
  • Evaluate AI opportunities during the architecture phase and make informed build, integrate, and orchestrate decisions based on business needs, risk, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Establish AI governance and observability practices, including output monitoring, evaluation, access controls, data protection, human verification, and safeguards against risks such as prompt injection and data leakage.
  • Design cloud-native, distributed applications using .NET/C#, React/Next.js, Azure, modern APIs, microservices, event-driven patterns, databases, containerization, and CI/CD.
  • Partner with clients, business stakeholders, and pursuit teams to shape solutions, support technical discovery, develop estimates, and contribute to proposals and statements of work.
  • Mentor engineers, strengthen architectural thinking across delivery teams, and create reusable application patterns, AI accelerators, agentic workflow blueprints, and integration frameworks.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful experience performing in an architecture capacity.
  • Hands-on experience delivering agentic AI solutions in production using real business data and operational workflows, not solely prototypes, demonstrations, or controlled pilots.
  • Practical experience using Claude Code to develop solutions; experience integrating Anthropic, OpenAI, or other LLM APIs is also valuable.
  • Substantive depth in either .NET/C# or React/Next.js, along with credible hands-on experience and the ability to architect across both.
  • Strong custom application and cloud-native architecture experience, including distributed systems, APIs, relational and non-relational databases, modern delivery practices, and integration with headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok, Sitecore, AI, or comparable solutions.
  • Experience with AI governance, observability, context engineering, RAG, prompt architecture, model evaluation, and the security considerations associated with production AI systems.
  • Consulting and client-facing experience with primarily commercial enterprises (e.g. not governmental entities), with the communication, judgment, adaptability, and initiative needed to guide stakeholders and move quickly across changing technologies and project needs.
