Coursera is seeking a Principal Product Manager, AI to help define and drive the future of AI-powered learning. This highly strategic individual contributor role will operate as part of a small, high-impact team responsible for shaping Coursera's AI strategy and accelerating the company's most important AI initiatives. You will identify opportunities where advances in AI can create meaningful value for learners, educators, institutions, and enterprise customers, and lead the development of AI-powered products and experiences that improve learning outcomes and drive business impact. The ideal candidate combines exceptional product judgment with deep fluency in modern AI technologies and a demonstrated ability to translate emerging capabilities into products that deliver measurable value at scale.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the strategy, roadmap, and investment priorities for AI-powered products, experiences, and platform capabilities that improve learner outcomes and create long-term business value.
- Lead Coursera's highest-priority AI initiatives from concept through launch and scale, driving alignment across teams and making strategic tradeoff decisions in rapidly evolving areas.
- Identify opportunities to apply advances in AI to improve how learners discover content, build skills, engage with learning experiences, and achieve their educational and career goals.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data Science, Legal, and Go-to-Market teams to deliver innovative AI-powered solutions responsibly and effectively.
- Define success metrics, experimentation frameworks, and evaluation methodologies to measure AI quality, learner outcomes, customer value, and business impact.
- Serve as a thought partner to product and executive leadership on emerging AI technologies, industry trends, and future opportunities for Coursera.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of product management experience leading the development and launch of technology products.
- Experience building and launching AI-powered products where large language models, generative AI systems, AI agents, or intelligent automation capabilities were central to the customer experience.
- Experience leading 0-to-1 product initiatives from concept validation through commercial launch.
- Experience owning product strategy and execution in highly ambiguous, emerging, or rapidly evolving technology areas.
- Experience developing experimentation frameworks, evaluation methodologies, quality metrics, or performance measurement systems for AI-powered products.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building AI-powered products where AI is central to the customer experience and product value proposition.
- Experience applying AI technologies such as large language models, agentic systems, intelligent workflows, recommendations, personalization, or automation to solve customer problems at scale.
- Experience developing approaches to evaluate AI quality, reliability, trust, safety, and customer outcomes.
- Experience incorporating advancements in AI capabilities into product strategy, roadmap planning, and execution.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives with senior stakeholders in high-growth or technology-driven organizations.
- Experience in education technology, workforce development, enterprise software, productivity software, developer platforms, or other technology products serving large and diverse customer bases.
