POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Accounting Transactions Team Supervisor, this position works as part of the Internal Group Accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting and deadline submission of month-end, quarter-end and year-end results are met. This position supports leadership in the development and implementation of standardized Group accounting policies and processes.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Performs recurring monthly tasks and journal entries to assist the Internal Group Accounting team in financial close. 
  • Prepares monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and account analysis. 
  • Maintains general ledger accounts with a high degree of accuracy. 
  • Collaborates with Account Transactions Team Supervisor and Internal Group Accounting Manager to ensure that deadlines are met. 
  • Supports the Internal Group Accounting leadership in the development and implementation of standardized accounting policies and processes. 
  • Aids in process standardization and system implementation projects. 
  • Assists with internal and external audit requests. 
  • Supports and interacts with various functional groups within Finance and Operations. 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or a combination of related education and experience. 
  • 1-2 year's experience in a finance/accounting function. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). 
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  
  • Analytical problem solver with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. 
  • Strong MS Excel skills and ability to learn new systems.
  • Familiarity with Oracle considered an asset. 
  • Current enrolment or completion of a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) considered an asset.
