Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and be registered as a Professional Civil Engineer with ECSA. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, including 5 years post-registration, is required.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Undertake the complex design for the provision of wastewater reticulation, collector and trunk mains, pump stations, rising mains and all ancillary works to best practice principals.
  • Audit of tender documentation submitted by consultants, development and staff for compliance with the Municipality legal and contractual requirements.
  • Drafting reports to the relevant committee for projects and financial authority.
  • Ensuring acceptance and support of the project and team by the community through consultation with the relevant councillors and development forums.
  • Input to policy, design standards formulation and materials evolution.
  • To assist the Executive in its submission to the Council for inclusion in the Council’s capital works programme and to monitor and control projects expenditure.
  • To ensure optimum utilization and development of the available main power.
  • To ensure an effective overall service and dissemination of information to the customer.
  • Deputising for Senior Manager: wastewater design.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Civil Engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 6 years relevant experience of which 5 years must be post registration experience.
  • Computer Literacy.
