Key job responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimisevirtual machine monitors (VMMs) for serverless and container workloads - Contribute to Firecracker and related open-source hypervisor technologies running at global scale - Build and maintain virtualisation infrastructure powering AWS Lambda, Aurora, and other AWS services - Collaborate and communicate effectively with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design, build, and operate innovative products and services that delight our customers, while participating in technical discussions to drive solutions forward. - Design and develop scalable solutions using cloud-native architectures and microservices in a large distributed computing environment. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation. - Build and maintain resilient distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective. - Leverage and contribute to the development of GenAI and AI-powered tools to enhance development productivity while staying current with emerging technologies. - Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and design patterns. - Work in an agile environment practicing CI/CD principles while participating in operational responsibilities including on-call duties. - Demonstrate operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
Basic Qualifications: - Are enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or related STEM fields - Experience with Networking: C, Firmware, Hardware, Memory Management, Computer Architecture, Computer Architecture, or Operating Systems - Experience with Linux: Firmware, Shell Scripting, Scripting Efficiency, or Linux, and C++ - Experience with C, C++, Firmware, Device Driver, Linux, ARM, Bare-Metal, or Kernel - Experience with Linux, System Integration, Networking, Operating Systems Kernels, Multi-threading, or Microprocessors and/or microcontrollers - Expected graduation between August 2026 - November 2026, OR graduated within the last 24 months - Completed Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in specified fields
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience from previous technical internship(s) or demonstrated project experience - Experience with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen) - Knowledge of the tools of the trade, including a variety of modern programming languages (Rust, Java, C/C++), and a solid understanding of the Linux operating system - Experience in performant kernel development (CUTLASS, FlashInfer), or experience writing low level drivers - Experience with designing and building applications using container and serverless technologies - Familiarity with systems programming in a large-scale distributed environment
