About the Role

The Senior Business Analyst role at eBay offers an outstanding chance to join our world-class Finance team. This high-impact position supports the North America and GBX markets and connects Finance, Analytics, Strategy, and Commercial leadership. Your work will help the business understand, explain, and improve performance. You will lead recurring performance reporting, support topline forecasting and scenario analysis, and transform complex data into clear recommendations that drive GMV growth and improve buyer outcomes.

In this collaborative, data-focused setting, you will work closely with Finance, Marketing, Risk, Product, Analytics, Engineering, and Commercial teams. Success requires strong analytical judgment, disciplined reporting, outstanding storytelling, and a preference for scalable solutions. You will help leaders understand what occurred, why it happened, and what actions to take next.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Monitor weekly, monthly, and quarterly business performance reporting across NA and GBX, translating results into executive-ready narratives on trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support weekly Business Review content and commentary generation by synthesizing inputs, checking important data, and highlighting the most important performance drivers and decisions.
  • Analyze GMV, revenue, and other core performance metrics across customer segments, categories, channels, and central initiatives to identify growth opportunities and emerging risks.
  • Perform variance analysis versus forecast, plan, prior year, and recent trends; isolate key drivers and recommend clear next steps to partners and leadership.
  • Support short- and long-term forecasting, including annual, quarterly, and monthly topline planning cycles, scenario modeling, and performance outlook analyses.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, deep-dive tools, reporting frameworks, and performance diagnostics that enable faster, more consistent, and increasingly self-serve decision-making.
  • Deliver targeted deep dives and ad hoc analyses to answer critical business questions, investigate data anomalies or discrepancies, and inform prioritization and investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, Risk, Product, Analytics, Engineering, and Commercial teams to link financial results with operational and customer factors.
  • Improve reporting quality, speed, and scalability through reusable SQL, automated data workflows, standardized definitions, and thoughtful use of AI and advanced analytics.
  • Bring structure to ambiguous problems, synthesize multiple data sources, and communicate insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in leadership reviews, planning materials, and strategic analyses while maintaining a consistently high standard for accuracy, clarity, and actionability.

What You’ll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, Finance Analytics, Business Analytics, Strategy, Consulting, Product, Business Operations, or another analytical role passionate about solving business problems.
  • Advanced, hands-on SQL and Excel skills, with strong data manipulation and financial modeling capability; Python proficiency is preferred.
  • Practical proficiency with AI tools and emerging AI capabilities, with the ability to apply them responsibly in day-to-day analysis, reporting, automation, and efficiency workflows.
  • Experience managing extensive, intricate, and at times unstructured datasets, along with the skill to develop reusable analyses and reveal important trends and insights.
  • Demonstrated experience in forecasting, performance reporting, variance analysis, financial modeling, or scenario planning.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar platforms.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deconstruct complex or unclear business questions into well-defined analytical methods.
  • Strong communication and storytelling capabilities, with the skill to transform analysis into clear, persuasive suggestions for senior and cross-functional audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence collaborators, align teams around a shared understanding of performance, and move from insight to action.
  • Strong focus on detail and a high standard for data quality, accuracy, and consistency in business-critical reporting.
  • A curious, proactive approach and the ability to balance precision with speed in a fast paced, geographically distributed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field, or corresponding professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in ecommerce, marketplaces, retail, or another fast-paced consumer business.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, experimentation, scenario modeling, or performance-driver decomposition.
  • Experience building automated reporting workflows, reusable data models, or self-serve analytics solutions.
