The Transportation Business Analyst is a technically capable and analytically driven contributor who enables improved system performance, process efficiency, and operational decision-making.

They combine strong data fluency with systems understanding and structured problem-solving to identify opportunities, deliver solutions, and support continuous improvement. Success in this role is defined by improved system utilization, actionable insights, reduced recurring issues, and measurable gains in operational performance.

The Transportation Business Analyst, Logistics Engineering is a technical and analytical resource responsible for optimizing logistics systems, improving operational processes, and delivering data-driven insights that support transportation performance.

This role partners closely with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and Technology to translate business requirements into system configurations, structured processes, and actionable analytics. The Business Analyst plays a key role in identifying inefficiencies, solving complex operational problems, and supporting the continuous improvement of transportation systems, workflows, and reporting capabilities.

Operating as a subject matter contributor, this role complements the Systems Administrator function by focusing on higher-complexity issues, system optimization, and analytical insights that enable scalable and disciplined execution

Systems Optimization & Solution Development ​

  • Configure and optimize logistics systems to support operational workflows and performance requirements 
  • Lead root cause analysis of complex system and operational issues 
  • Translate business requirements into system configurations and functional solutions 
  • Partner with Technology teams to support system enhancements, integrations, and testing 

 

Analytics & Reporting 

  •  Support development, maintenance, and accuracy of operational reporting and analytics.   
  • Analyze transportation and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities 
  • Develop and maintain reporting outputs to support operational decision-making 
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and alignment with defined business metrics 
  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders across the organization    

 

Process Engineering & Standardization 

  •  Lead process mapping, documentation, and redesign initiatives across transportation workflows 
  • Develop and maintain SOPs aligned with best practices and operational requirements 
  • Identify gaps in process adherence and recommend improvements 
  • Support standardization of workflows to improve consistency and efficiency  

 

Operational Support & Escalation 

  • Provide second-level support for complex or recurring system and process issues 
  • Partner with Systems Administrator to resolve escalated tickets and systemic issues 
  • Identify patterns in support demand to drive root cause resolution 
  • Improve support efficiency through structured problem-solving and solutioning 
  • Support execution of EDI integrations, onboarding, and ongoing maintenance 

 

Continuous Improvement & Initiative Support 

  •  Identify and lead opportunities to improve system utilization, automation, and efficiency 
  • Support cross-functional initiatives impacting transportation systems and workflows 
  • Contribute to projects focused on cost optimization, service performance, and scalability 
  • Support implementation of process and system improvements across the network  

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and IT teams to align system capabilities with business needs 
  • Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams 
  • Influence adoption of improved processes and system usage 
  • Support training and knowledge transfer for new processes or enhancements

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or analytical roles (LTL / TL environment preferred)
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in an operational environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment SQL and reporting development experience (strongly preferred)

Preferred

  • Experience working with logistics or transportation systems
  • Experience with data visualization or reporting tools
  • Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting system implementations or enhancements
