OVERVIEW:
As Manager, Product Portfolio, you'll lead a strategic portfolio of products while coaching and developing a team of Product Managers. This player-coach role combines strategic leadership with hands-on product management, translating enterprise strategy into product decisions that deliver meaningful customer and business outcomes.
Working closely with the Director, Product and key enterprise partners, you'll shape portfolio priorities, guide investment decisions, and help Product Managers grow into confident product leaders. You'll also play a key role in advancing Product Management across Alberta Blue Cross by strengthening product practices, building organizational capability, and helping teams deliver greater value for customers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Lead Your Product Portfolio
- Own the strategy, roadmap, and performance of a portfolio of products aligned with enterprise priorities.
- Translate enterprise strategy into clear product priorities and investment recommendations.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify opportunities to improve customer value and business results.
Develop Product Leaders
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Product Managers, strengthening strategic thinking, decision-making, and product leadership.
- Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
- Build product management capability across the organization.
Deliver Through Partnership
- Partner with Digital Product, Sales, Corporate Strategy & Market Development, Pricing, Marketing, IT, Operations, Finance, and other enterprise teams to bring products from concept to market.
- Build alignment, remove barriers, and facilitate effective decision-making across stakeholders.
- Balance customer needs, business priorities, and organizational objectives when making product decisions.
Advance Product Excellence
- Champion modern product management practices across the organization.
- Strengthen portfolio governance, prioritization, roadmap management, and product performance measurement.
- Contribute to the continued evolution of Product Management at Alberta Blue Cross.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:
- 7+ years of progressive product management experience leading product strategy, roadmap development, lifecycle management, and business performance.
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing Product Managers or other product professionals.
- Proven success managing multiple products or portfolios while balancing customer, commercial, and organizational priorities.
- Strong business acumen, using customer insights, market intelligence, financial performance, and data to guide decisions.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder leadership skills, with the ability to influence across all organizational levels.
- Experience developing product strategies, business cases, and executive recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related discipline.
- Experience in B2B, direct-to-consumer, or multi-segment product environments is an asset.
- Health insurance industry experience is an asset.
