Senior QA Engineer

Engineering | Full-Time | Remote | $90,000-$110,000 CAD

About the Role

Our client is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join their Engineering team and play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of their software platform.

This is a hands-on QA role focused heavily on test automation, quality engineering, and AI-assisted testing. The ideal candidate enjoys digging into the details, identifying issues early, building automated test solutions, and working closely with developers and product teams to improve overall product quality.

The role is well suited to someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced technology environment and is comfortable taking ownership of QA processes and automation.

Location: Remote, Canada

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute test plans, test scenarios, scripts, and procedures to ensure product quality and performance.
  • Develop and maintain automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.
  • Build and maintain automated test frameworks for web, mobile, and API applications.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Use AI-powered tools to generate test cases, test data, and automation scripts.
  • Leverage AI to identify gaps in test coverage and optimize existing automation suites.
  • Assess automation requirements and estimate testing and automation effort for projects.
  • Identify, reproduce, and clearly document software defects and usability issues.
  • Analyze test results and work closely with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Perform API testing using tools such as Postman.
  • Use SQL and database validation techniques to support testing and troubleshoot issues.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to refine requirements and ensure appropriate test coverage.
  • Help establish and promote QA automation best practices across the Engineering team.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Take on other QA and Engineering-related responsibilities as needed in a dynamic technology environment.

Key Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in software QA testing and automation.
  • Experience working in a SaaS, software, or technology environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
  • Experience with Git and Azure DevOps for source control, automation, pipeline execution, and collaboration.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages, particularly JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
  • Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test automation, and debugging.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and database validation.
  • Experience testing web applications, APIs, and ideally mobile applications.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple testing priorities.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being an active member of a high-performing Engineering team.

AI Experience

AI is an important part of how our client approaches software development and QA. Candidates should have experience using AI tools to improve their testing and automation workflows.

Experience with tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Gemini is an asset.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable using AI to:

  • Generate test cases and test data.
  • Create and improve automation scripts.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage.
  • Optimize existing test suites.
  • Assist with debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Improve the overall efficiency of the QA process.
  • Use prompt engineering techniques to generate useful testing scenarios and outputs.
