  • River Valley Holdings is a family-owned distribution company based in Syracuse, NY, serving retail customers across the northeastern United States. The River Valley family of companies: River Valley Foods, Cavallaro Foods, and Empire Valley distribute a wide range of specialty dry and frozen grocery items and consumable products out of warehouses in Syracuse, NY.

General Description/Purpose:

We are seeking a full-time talented and motivated Business Analyst.This entry-level Business Analyst role provides hands-on experience in business analytics, cross-functional operations, and data-driven decision-making. The Business Analyst supports various departments by developing and maintaining analytical reports, assisting with data analysis and visualization, managing and organizing business data, identifying trends and insights, and monitoring key performance metrics. The role is ideal for someone with foundational analytical skills who is looking to apply their knowledge in a professional business environment and continue developing their analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Work Location & Schedule

  • On-Site (Syracuse, NY)
  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Wages:

  • $21.00 - $24.00 per hour

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to form effective solutions to improve the business financials with passion for data driven decision making.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to collect, organize, analyze, and publish significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and business analysis tools/software
  • Highly proficient in Excel including use and creation of pivot tables, formulas, and manipulating large amounts of data
  • High level of integrity
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a group setting.
  • Must demonstrate excellent time management and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience in Microsoft Business Central/Navision/Microsoft Dynamics software environment a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including reading and creating formulas, working with pivot tables, and ability to manipulate and analyze large datasets
  • Basic proficiency in SQL, including the ability to read, understand and replicate basic queries
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power BI, including creating and interpreting dashboards and reports
  • Strong analytical mindset with a high-level attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Strong troubleshooting, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
