About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Security Operations Engineer to join our IT team, playing a key role in strengthening our security posture across identity management, endpoint protection, network security, and cloud services. This role combines hands-on technical execution with cross-functional collaboration, supporting security operations across Microsoft 365 and Fortinet firewall infrastructure while contributing to broader IT service and asset management initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Advanced Troubleshooting and Resolution: Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex security-related hardware, software, and network issues to ensure minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
- Identity and Access Management: Support identity and access management processes, ensuring proper controls and permissions are in place for employees at all levels, focusing on Azure Active Directory.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement security procedures aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of IT applications and overall security posture.
- IT Project Support: Contribute to supporting and managing security-focused IT projects, from initial design and planning stages through to successful implementation and ongoing support.
- IT Service Management: Provide IT service management with a focus on security, ensuring adherence to best practices and delivering exceptional service to end-users.
- IT Asset Management: Assist in IT asset management, including inventory tracking, procurement, and retirement processes, ensuring compliance with security policies.
- Cyber Security Awareness: Help promote and enhance cyber security awareness among employees, ensuring adherence to security policies and practices.
- Microsoft 365 Security Management: Help manage security settings and policies within Microsoft 365, including but not limited to email quarantine, conditional access policies, and endpoint security baselines.
- Fortinet Firewall Management: Assist with configuring, managing, and monitoring Fortinet firewalls, ensuring robust perimeter security and efficient handling of network traffic to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate threats.
- Security Incident Response: Support the response to security incidents involving both Microsoft 365 and firewall infrastructure, conducting investigations and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Compliance and Governance: Assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal security policies across Microsoft 365 and network environments.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in IT security operations, infosec, or a related IT support role, with hands-on exposure to enterprise security tools and environments.
- Practical experience with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft 365 security management, including conditional access policies, email quarantine, and endpoint security baselines.
- Working knowledge of Fortinet firewalls or similar next-generation firewall/perimeter security platforms is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting security incident response, including investigation and remediation of security events.
- Solid understanding of identity and access management principles and best practices.
- Experience with IT service management frameworks and ticketing/service desk tools, with a track record of delivering strong end-user support.
- Familiarity with IT asset management processes, including inventory tracking and lifecycle management.
- Understanding of common regulatory and compliance frameworks relevant to IT security (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001, or similar).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and network domains.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Security+, Microsoft SC-300/SC-900, Fortinet NSE, or equivalent) are a plus but not required.
- A proactive, detail-oriented mindset with a genuine interest in cyber security awareness and continuous improvement.
