Asset Finance is experiencing record growth and looking forward to an exciting future and as a result we have an opportunity in our Technical Consulting team for an Asset Finance Technical Analyst.

Part of Virgin Money’s business bank, asset finance supports SME business customers throughout the UK. Our customers range from small to complex high-growth businesses, including SMEs that are the backbone of the UK economy.

Reporting to the Manager Governance & Control (Asset Finance), the Technical Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Technical Consultants with 1st line of defence and assurance activities across the asset finance team.

This opportunity provides the role holder with the chance to build on existing knowledge and become a subject matter expert. You will be expected to be proactive about your self-development and building your own network to create a positive identity for the asset finance business, possessing high levels of self-awareness.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

This role provides specialist risk support to Asset Finance teams by assessing new business lending proposals, facility increases, deal structures and documentation to ensure compliance with policy and appropriate risk management before submission to credit. It is responsible for delivering risk reporting and performance data, maintaining consistent application of risk and credit processes, conducting retrospective audits and managing error resolution. The role also involves building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Bank, managing operational and ORECS risk reporting, and supporting the successful delivery of the Alfa replacement project through collaboration, technical expertise and stakeholder engagement.

About you

As a minimum you will have

  • A good knowledge of the asset finance sector, products and liability risks
  • Working knowledge of the assets funded by asset finance
  • Data interpretation and analysis capabilities to assess asset finance deals submitted before submission to credit
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to be able to resolve asset finance queries of a technical nature and identify where asset finance policy has not been adhered to
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to be an excellent team player, work collaboratively and effectively as part of a small but dynamic team together with the ability to learn quickly
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and in an organised way to meet tight deadlines
