JavaScript Backend Developer (Trodo SIA / Latvia)

The role:

The role of JavaScript Backend Developer involves building and maintaining APIs, integrations, tests, and Node.js applications according to best practices. You will work on business-critical backend services, contribute to technical discussions, and help deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions. 

 This role is suited for an engineer who can work independently, take ownership of assigned tasks, and contribute their experience to the team. 

 

Responsibilities: 

• Build and support backend Node.js applications and services 

• Develop APIs and integrations in collaboration with other team members

• Produce clean, efficient code while adhering to coding standards and best practices

• Perform testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to deliver high-quality applications 

• Enhance application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development practices 

 

Requirements: 

• Must have 2+ years of commercial software development experience 

• Hands-on experience with Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript is must

• Experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs and backend systems

• Strong knowledge of NestJS, Express, Fastify, or similar backend frameworks. 

• Strong experience with SQL databases

• Experience with Docker and containerized environments

• Experience with automated testing practices 

• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and self-documenting code

• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows 

• Strong English language skills are required for working with software and developing solutions tailored for international audiences and users

• Legal right to work and reside in Latvia 

Will be considered an advantage:

• Experience with event-driven architecture and message brokers 

• Experience with Redis or other caching solutions 

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Experience with Kubernetes 

• Knowledge of React and/or experience with Next.js

• Experience supporting and mentoring less experienced developers
