What is the role, and who would you be working with?

As the QA Specialist, you'll be ensuring our games are seamless, fun, and bug-free. This isn't your typical QA role: you'll actively jump, climb, and play to test our mixed-reality games and their unique physical challenges. You'll play a crucial part in delivering high-quality, movement-based gaming experiences for players around the world.

Beyond testing, you'll own and improve our existing quality assurance processes, taking initiative to improve workflows and helping streamline game releases.

👉 Whether it’s climbing walls, bouncing on trampolines, or battling in gaming arenas, your work will combine physical play with systematic problem-solving to ensure every player has an incredible experience!

Your tasks include:

✅ Test our mixed-reality platforms (ValoClimb, ValoArena, ValoJump, Groundfall, ValoApp, Operations Hub) to replicate real-world experiences, identify issues and risks, and suggest improvements to testing processes and release workflows.

✅ Execute and maintain comprehensive functional tests and smoke tests for game updates, new features, and releases.

✅ Perform exploratory testing to uncover hidden issues while suggesting improvements to workflows and processes.

✅ Collaborate with developers and customer success teams to reproduce and troubleshoot bugs and ensure our products meet high-quality standards.

✅ Provide gameplay feedback to the team – acting as a proxy end user to give an objective perspective on how games feel to play.

✅ Maintain and refine QA documentation, ensuring test cases and pre-release checklists are up to date for all products.

✅ Monitor releases that are rolling out, ensuring releases run smoothly and without issues on customer systems.

Critical know-how that you’ll need to succeed in this role

✅ Language & Location: Fluent in English and able to work on-site 4+ days a week at our office in the Helsinki capital area (Lauttasaari).

✅ QA experience: You have already gained some experience in software or game quality assurance and testing. Junior level is absolutely fine – we care about mindset more than years.

✅ Physical energy and ability: Comfortable with active play, including jumping, climbing, and moving for extended periods. This is genuinely core to the job.

✅ Attention to detail: A keen eye for spotting even the smallest issues during gameplay testing.

✅ Communication skills: The ability to clearly document and report findings to the team effectively and concisely, keeping QA processes streamlined.

✅ Genuine curiosity: An eagerness to explore, discover bugs through exploratory testing, and proactively suggest improvements – not just execute a test script.
