Full description

Based in Fisherman’s Bend, Victoria, we are excited to invite applications from experienced Project Management professionals who will lead and manage the delivery of a portfolio of concurrent simple to medium complexity projects. You will be fully responsible and accountable for overall project performance throughout the lifecycle.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will lead and motivate cross functional project teams and deliver contractual outputs/outcomes on time, within scope and on budget.

The opportunity

As Project Manager, your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Integrated planning, where you will actively take forward the definition of outputs into detailed planning incorporating, scope, quality, time, cost, resources, risk, communication, success and completion criteria and benefits management
  • Ensuring effective project controls are in place and accurate and timely performance information is available whilst proactively managing project performance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Proactively identify and assess risks, plan and implement responses to those risks and respond to issues that affect the project. You will also ensure threats & opportunities are managed in accordance with best practice
  • Leading project reviews, using performance reporting to provide an assessment on the status of the project. Reporting progress, status of project at internal and external reviews to the Delegated Authority, Customer and/or Partner
  • Fostering a collaborative approach, engaging, influencing and collaborating with all stakeholders. Understand the customers expectations and ensure we are aligned by building customer relations
  • Engaging in pre and post contract discussions to shape project scope and collaboratively work with the Commercial function to understand QinetiQ’s contractual rights and obligations
  • Working closely with the relevant technical leads, ensuring that outputs are delivered in accordance with the defined scope and contractual requirements, meet stakeholder expectations and are fit for purpose.
  • Creating a Quality Management plan (QMP) if applicable and ensuring the project is compliant with internal processes, standards and regulations stipulated in the contract. Undertake first line peer review of project management artefacts for other projects within delegation
  • Assisting with building and strengthening customer relationships in order to extend existing work and assist with bringing in new sales opportunities. Seek to understand customer needs and requirements and triage these effectively through Decision Point governance

To be successful in the position of Project Manager you will need to bring with you:

  • An accredited PM qualification and/or certification (or equivalent PM experience)
  • Solid experience of working within project teams and leading projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project management, understanding the full project lifecycle
  • Proven experience of planning and managing projects and processes, working independently with no supervision
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of lifecycles and experience of applying one or more independently – Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid
  • Experience in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, SAP, JIRA and/or Oracle
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast paced and goal driven environment
  • Ability to coach and review work of lower-level professionals and provide mentorship

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an Australian Defence security clearance, NV1 minimum or have the ability to obtain one
