Full description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Cloud Infrastructure Architect based in the United States.

This is a strategic architecture role responsible for shaping secure, resilient, and scalable cloud foundations in a high-growth, highly regulated healthcare environment. You will define enterprise cloud standards, reference architectures, modernization roadmaps, and infrastructure patterns across Azure and AWS. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with long-term architectural strategy, spanning networking, platform engineering, Infrastructure-as-Code, security, and cloud economics. You will help modernize critical workloads, improve infrastructure reliability and performance, and establish repeatable engineering practices. AI will be used as a force multiplier for automation, forecasting, engineering productivity, operational intelligence, and faster decision-making. Working closely with Security, Quality, Data, Application, Manufacturing, Finance, and technology teams, you will translate complex business needs into practical technical solutions. This is an opportunity to influence enterprise-wide engineering standards while supporting compliant innovation and technology growth at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Define cloud architecture principles, target states, reference patterns, and modernization roadmaps across Azure and AWS, aligning technical decisions with business priorities, resilience, security, performance, and cost objectives.
  • Architect the migration of on-premises and data center workloads to cloud-native services, establishing repeatable patterns for landing zones, connectivity, identity, compute, storage, recovery, and other foundational capabilities.
  • Develop capacity, resilience, availability, and performance strategies using observability data and AI-driven forecasting to anticipate demand, optimize resources, and identify infrastructure risks before they impact operations.
  • Establish and govern Infrastructure-as-Code standards using Terraform, cloud-native tooling, modular patterns, automated testing, policy-as-code, and reusable deployment frameworks.
  • Build intelligent automation for provisioning, patching, configuration, monitoring, incident response, and other operational activities while maintaining approval controls, audit trails, rollback mechanisms, and appropriate human oversight.
  • Provide hands-on architectural leadership for complex initiatives, reviewing technical designs, resolving constraints, guiding major technology decisions, and raising engineering quality across teams.
  • Mentor engineers through technical guidance, structured feedback, forums, and reusable architectural standards while encouraging responsible and effective use of AI in engineering workflows.
  • Embed security, privacy, compliance, identity, encryption, segmentation, logging, vulnerability management, and recovery requirements into cloud architecture and operational practices.
  • Translate technical risks into clear business impacts, mitigation plans, ownership, and deadlines while maintaining architecture decisions, control evidence, exceptions, and remediation plans to support audit readiness.
  • Partner with application, data, security, manufacturing, quality, finance, technology, and vendor teams to establish clear requirements, decision rights, success measures, and practical cloud solutions.
  • Use AI-assisted analysis to improve scenario planning, requirements analysis, cost and performance modeling, documentation, threat analysis, and operational decision-making.
  • Continuously improve engineering processes, eliminate recurring operational work, increase infrastructure standardization, and identify opportunities to improve delivery speed, reliability, and technology economics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive infrastructure or cloud engineering experience, including significant ownership of architecture across Azure, AWS, enterprise networking, platform services, and large-scale modernization initiatives.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Azure and AWS architecture, networking, identity and access management, resilience, observability, disaster recovery, and cloud economics.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing secure, resilient, automated cloud platforms in fast-paced environments with demanding governance, availability, auditability, and cost-management requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with Terraform, Infrastructure-as-Code lifecycle practices, CI/CD, policy-as-code, automated testing, cloud landing zones, and reusable infrastructure patterns.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, risk management, compliance-by-design, audit evidence, and the ability to translate regulatory controls into scalable technical architecture.
  • Experience applying AI responsibly within engineering and operations workflows, including automation, code generation, analysis, forecasting, monitoring, or operational intelligence.
  • Strong systems-thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to simplify complex technical challenges and make sound decisions in ambiguous environments.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain complex architecture, risk, cost, and technology decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority, collaborate across functions, mentor engineers, and maintain execution momentum on complex initiatives.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and accountable approach, with strong attention to quality, continuous improvement, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert and Terraform certification are strongly preferred.
  • Azure Administrator, Azure AI Engineer, Kubernetes, AWS Solutions Architect, or ITIL certifications are also preferred.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries, healthcare, pharmaceutical environments, or other settings requiring rigorous compliance and audit readiness is advantageous.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Paid time off to support rest, personal needs, and work-life balance.
  • Wellness-focused perks and programs.
  • Access to IV therapy and eligible compounded medications.
  • Opportunities to work in a mission-driven, technology-focused environment with meaningful impact on healthcare access and patient outcomes.
  • Opportunities for professional development, technical leadership, innovation, and career growth.
  • Exposure to large-scale cloud modernization, AI-enabled engineering, automation, and enterprise architecture initiatives.
  • Remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • A collaborative environment centered on people, quality, service, innovation, and continuous improvement.
