DevOps Engineer

About the role

Based at our Newstead, QLD or Paramatta, NSW office the DevOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in making pipeline and application developers lives easier by streamlining the software development lifecycle to improve productivity, delivery speed, and code quality. This will be done by overseeing GIT repos, developing intuitive deployment pipelines, providing platform and infrastructure automation and tooling as needed, and ensuring production environments are secure and highly available.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

• Research, design, and develop intuitive, fully automated CI/CD release pipelines, test plans, infrastructure as code deployments, and DevOps status dashboards.

• Propose and develop automation and integration solutions to support the software and data engineering functions.

• Deploy, configure, and maintain cloud resources used to perform function of DevSecOps.

• Participate and collaborate in a high performing SCRUM team to deliver on key BAU activities and milestones from the Project Roadmap, and Data & Technology Strategic Plans.

• Demonstrate excellent judgement skills at interpreting business requirements, estimating workloads, prioritizing tasks, and managing time in the delivery of quality solutions to meet deadlines.

About You

As the ideal candidate you will have demonstratable programming skills (object orientated programming) along with experience with Azure DevOp’s pipelines, and Azure Cloud Infrastructure experience.

You will have a security focused mindset which including understanding the basic security principles and need to be able to make and work within a high security environment whilst developing DevOps plan.

Working within and developing a DataOp’s environment you will be motivated to contribute to outcomes, you will be an out of the box thinker, who thrives in solving complex technical matters and discussions.  Your exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills will see you successfully work with a diverse internal and external group.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps or cloud infrastructure roles, including at least 2–3 years administering Databricks in production.

• Proven experience managing Databricks on Azure, including private networking (VNet injection, Private Link), secrets management with Azure Key Vault, IP access lists and audit logging.

• Demonstrated experience monitoring Databricks jobs and pipelines for reliability, performance and cost, using Databricks system tables, and Azure Monitor/Log Analytics and alerting. You should also be able to lead incident response and root cause analysis when jobs fail or services go down.

• Experience automating platform configuration (security, storage, networking, connections) using Terraform or other IaC tooling. This includes the Databricks and AzureRM providers, remote state management and promotion across environments.

• Experience with Azure DevOps YAML deployment pipelines for both infrastructure and workload deployments, including CI/CD for Databricks jobs and pipeline code.

• Scripting ability in Python, PowerShell, Bash, Databricks CLI for automation and operational tooling.

• Ability to produce clear documentation, runbooks and architecture or network diagrams, and to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
