Job Description
Northwell Health is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our Business Development and Intelligence team. This high-impact role sits at the intersection of healthcare strategy, data engineering, and visual storytelling. The BI Analyst will be support the data infrastructure that for our strategic reporting; building, maintaining, and thoroughly documenting the databases and tables the team depends on daily. This individual will collaborate with the reporting team to deliver tailored analyses and data extracts in response to stakeholder needs. Developing Python-based automation to streamline recurring workflows and ensure consistency across projects. Using BigQuery, Python, Tableau, and GitHub, the BI Analyst will design and deliver intuitive dashboards and analytical tools that enable stakeholders to independently access and explore data; reducing turnaround time and empowering more informed, timely decision-making.
Job Responsibility
- Design, build, and optimize tables, views, and data models in BigQuery; maintain thorough documentation for all data assets and transformation logic.
- Implement data quality validation checks that proactively surface anomalies before they reach stakeholders.
- Build and maintain interactive Tableau dashboards that transform complex datasets into intuitive, self-service experiences for decision-makers.
- Identify automation opportunities and build Python-based scripts and workflows that eliminate manual work and reduce cycle time.
- Integrate internal operational data with external market intelligence to produce a unified view of Northwell's competitive position.
- Manage analytical code in GitHub using disciplined version control practices.
- Analyzes, verifies, tracks and reports on quantitative and qualitative data concerning hospital and multi-care services, utilization and population demographics.
- Provides internal and external strategic planning and market research databases to perform analysis.
- Evaluates strategic business unit market performance through the use of benchmark data.
- Provides information to management, Strategic Planning and staff on formal presentations.
- Assists in the preparation of strategic plans, business plans and preparing supporting materials; including tables, charts, graphs, maps, etc.
- Develops and maintains internal tracking system and develops reports, as appropriate.
- Supports certificate of need and grant writing functions through analysis of System and Health care market data.
- Provides technical assistance to staff on use of computer software and databases, as required.
- Assists in preparing information for presentation to internal constituencies and local, state agencies.

Job Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
Highly Preferred Technical Skills
- SQL Proficiency: Working knowledge of intermediate SQL including common table expressions (CTEs), window functions, and multi-table joins
- Python Programming: Experience using Python for data manipulation and automation, including pandas library and basic scripting capabilities
- Data Visualization Tools: Hands-on experience building reports and dashboards in Tableau or Power BI, including foundational data modeling concepts
- Advanced Excel: Proficiency with Excel functions, pivot tables, and Power Query for data transformation
- Healthcare Data: Familiarity with healthcare datasets such as medical/pharmacy claims summaries, CMS public use files, or National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) data
- Cloud Platforms: Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS), particularly executing queries in BigQuery and accessing cloud storage solutions
