Meet Our Team

The Streaming Analytics Engineering team builds and operates the data and analytics platform that powers streaming insights across Warner Bros. Discovery brands. Our platform processes billions of streaming telemetry events each day, providing the real-time visibility and insights used to monitor playback quality, improve customer experience, and support data-driven decisions across WBD's global streaming organization.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for some of WBD's most critical streaming data systems. This role combines technical leadership, operational excellence, and people management, with broad visibility across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and operational rigor.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on hiring, organizational planning, and talent development.
  • Set clear expectations and help engineers balance velocity, quality, and reliability.
  • Build an inclusive, collaborative environment where engineers can do their best work.

Technical & Delivery Leadership

  • Lead the development and operation of large-scale distributed systems that process billions of streaming telemetry events.
  • Drive the evolution of WBD's streaming analytics and observability platform, providing real-time visibility into playback quality and customer experience.
  • Ensure platform services are highly available, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient.
  • Guide architecture, technical strategy, and execution across the team's roadmap.
  • Partner with teams across Playback, Platform, Data, and Product to deliver high-impact initiatives.

Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Management to define roadmaps and priorities for streaming analytics and observability capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted metrics and actionable insights.
  • Drive alignment across teams to execute complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Act as an advocate for internal customers, treating data and observability capabilities as products.
  • Communicate technical strategy, risks, and progress effectively to leadership and stakeholders.

What to Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 12–15 years of total experience with 3+ years of people management experience, with mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing engineering teams.
  • Hands-on programming experience in Go, Java, or Python, with the ability to contribute to architecture, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
  • Experience building, operating, and scaling large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments.
  • Proven track record leading teams responsible for mission-critical platforms with demanding availability, reliability, performance, and operational requirements.
  • Strong technical judgment and experience making architecture decisions that balance scalability, reliability, cost, and operational complexity.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building data, analytics, telemetry, observability, or monitoring platforms.
  • Experience with high-volume event processing, streaming data pipelines, or real-time analytics systems.
  • Experience supporting consumer-facing products on a global scale.
  • Experience in video streaming, media, or other large-scale digital platforms.
  • Experience evaluating and integrating third-party technologies alongside internally developed solutions.
