Developer Relations Engineer, Android, Play, Games

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• 3 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.

Preferred qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in game development based on Unity, Unreal or C/C++/C# custom game engines.

• Experience in using agentic coding tools to accelerate technical integrations, automate testing/profiling, and publishing developer-facing technical resources (e.g. codelabs, blogs, sample apps).

• Comfortable being a passionate voice to advocate with both internal teams and external partners.

• Strong DevRel communication and problem solving skills, with a passion for advocating with both internal teams and external partners.

Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Relations Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. You will write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs and testing new features.

With your technical expertise, you drive strategy around fostering a community of developers who work with Google technologies. An ardent advocate for these developers, you represent their voice internally to our Product Managers and serve as their Google support in application development and technology implementation.

Responsibilities:

• Work with top game developers and game engines in China, Taiwan (and APAC) to support exciting new product integrations on flagship Pixel devices.

• Optimize cutting-edge AA/AAA game titles, resolve engineering problems with Google technologies and scale the knowledge to improve the overall gaming ecosystem.

• Advocate for game developers internally and influence Google developer product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Business Development, PR and other cross-functional teams.

• Drive regular, engineering-focused workshops plus meetings with developers to optimize the gaming experience and resolve complex technical problems at a scale of millions of users. These communications would often be done in Mandarin to provide the best possible experience for partners in the region.
