Project Manager

Saber Power Services, LLC, (SPS) headquartered in Houston, TX is a nationally recognized full service, EPC, specialty engineering, procurement, construction and testing and commissioning company specializing in complex medium and high voltage electrical infrastructure in North America.

Saber Power Services seeks a Project Manager to support and manage utility infrastructure projects including substations, transmission lines, distribution systems, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is responsible for coordinating project activities throughout the project lifecycle, from project development and engineering through execution and closeout. The PM will support pre-construction efforts, manage engineering-only projects, and collaborate with engineering, operations, and stakeholders to drive clarity, assess risks, and prepare high-quality project packages for transition into full project delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support pre-construction planning activities, including scope reviews, feasibility reviews, early-phase risk assessments, developing project execution plans, preliminary schedules, and cashflows.
  • Manage engineering-only projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, resource planning, and client requirements are achieved.
  • Establish and maintain customer relationships while serving as a primary point of contact during project execution.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues, and change management activities.
  • Support bid reviews, project kickoff activities, contract administration, and project financial management.
  • Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate activities among engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, design reviews, value engineering efforts, and problem resolution throughout project execution.
  • Track project performance, monitor key milestones, manage risk registers, and provide routine project reporting. .
  • Facilitate internal and external project meetings and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
  • Support project turnover activities, commissioning coordination, and project closeout documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety requirements, client standards, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and PMO best practices.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Project Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field is required; equivalent years of experience may substitute formal education
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant project management experience, including significant experience with medium to high-voltage substation and/or transmission line projects
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with grid integration, energy storage technologies, and energy management systems is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar certification is preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and MS Office Suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of dealing with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams at all levels
  • Ability to think strategically and make decisions that align with organizational goals.
  • Occasional travel to project sites may be required
