Full description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Compute Network Engineer based in Australia.
As a Senior Compute Network Engineer, you will design, build, and evolve the data center network fabrics that power bare-metal, GPU, AI, and high-performance computing infrastructure. You will work across leaf-spine architectures, GPU and storage networks, data center connectivity, and the automation required to operate these environments reliably at scale. This role combines deep networking expertise with hands-on engineering, architecture, testing, and operational support. You will collaborate with engineering teams, technology vendors, and integration partners to deliver fast, resilient, and predictable infrastructure. As the first compute networking specialist based in Australia, you will serve as a key regional technical anchor while collaborating closely with teams across international time zones. Your work will directly contribute to next-generation compute networking architectures and scalable infrastructure.

Accountabilities: You will take ownership of the design, deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of large-scale compute networking environments, while serving as a senior technical resource for network engineering and operations teams.
- Evaluate, test, and certify new network hardware, systems, and software.
- Design and deploy resilient leaf-spine network fabrics supporting GPU, AI, and high-performance computing infrastructure.
- Design and operate IP fabrics using BGP, EVPN-VXLAN, and ECMP.
- Support GPU frontend, backend, storage, management, and out-of-band network connectivity.
- Configure and operate switches, routers, and data center interconnects.
- Implement congestion management capabilities, including QoS, ECN, and Priority Flow Control where required.
- Integrate GPU data centers with transport, internet transit, cloud, and external connectivity services.
- Run proof-of-concept exercises with integration and technology partners.
- Contribute to the development of next-generation network and systems architectures.
- Develop network architecture standards, low-level designs, implementation plans, and operational documentation.
- Maintain strong technical relationships with network hardware and technology vendors.
- Evolve network automation and monitoring systems covering capacity, latency, congestion, and availability.
- Provide advanced technical support to internal and external customers.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support infrastructure deployments and ongoing operations.
- Prepare technical summaries and recommendations that enable senior leadership to make informed business decisions.
- Act as a final-level escalation point for network operations, operations engineering, and network engineering teams.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate combines extensive networking and telecommunications experience with strong problem-solving abilities, automation skills, and the independence required to operate in a rapidly evolving technical environment.
