This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Principal Cybersecurity Advisor based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to serve as a strategic cybersecurity advisor, helping organizations strengthen their security posture through innovative and practical solutions. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to understand business challenges, assess risks, and design scalable cybersecurity strategies. The position combines deep technical expertise, consulting skills, and business acumen to deliver meaningful security outcomes. You will contribute to complex security programs involving network, SASE, and operational technology environments. This role is ideal for an experienced cybersecurity professional who enjoys client engagement, thought leadership, and solving complex security challenges. As a trusted advisor, you will help shape security roadmaps while collaborating with specialists, partners, and internal teams.

Accountabilities: The Principal Cybersecurity Advisor will act as a trusted security partner, guiding clients through cybersecurity strategy, solution design, and technology adoption. Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a strategic cybersecurity advisor to clients, understanding their business objectives, security environments, risk profiles, and technology needs.
  • Design pragmatic and scalable security solutions across network security, SASE, operational technology, and broader cybersecurity domains.
  • Lead client discussions, workshops, whiteboarding sessions, and presentations with technical teams and senior leadership.
  • Identify security challenges and align recommended solutions with business goals, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
  • Support business development activities by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, managing client engagements, and helping drive successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal specialists, delivery teams, and technology partners to ensure effective solution execution and client satisfaction.
  • Develop security roadmaps and strategies that support long-term cybersecurity maturity and organizational resilience.
  • Stay current on emerging security technologies, industry trends, and evolving threat landscapes to provide relevant guidance.
  • Contribute to thought leadership through industry events, partner engagements, and cybersecurity community participation.
  • Support continuous improvement by sharing client feedback, market insights, and emerging technology opportunities with internal teams.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced cybersecurity professional with strong consulting capabilities, technical depth, and the ability to engage with executive stakeholders. Required qualifications and skills include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in information security, preferably in consulting, advisory, architecture, or engineering roles focused on network, SASE, or operational technology security.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, technologies, and enterprise security strategies.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business recommendations for diverse audiences.
  • Experience leading security programs, technology evaluations, solution design, or cybersecurity transformation initiatives.
  • Strong presentation, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to review and contribute to statements of work, proposals, client deliverables, and security documentation.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, CISA, CISM, CCSP, or equivalent credentials are considered an asset.
  • Vendor-specific certifications related to cybersecurity specialties are considered beneficial.
  • Experience representing technology strategy at industry events or professional forums is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government-sponsored Top Secret security clearance.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a client-focused environment.
