QA Automation Engineer / Junior Java Developer

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated QA Automation Engineer or Junior Java Developer who is eager to grow in test automation and contribute to a high-visibility strategic project. This role is ideal for someone with a QA automation background or a developer mindset: curiosity, discipline, a willingness to learn quickly, and openness to using AI tools as part of their daily work.

This is a one-year engagement focused on test automation, defect investigation, and continuous quality improvement. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys problem-solving, learning new technologies, and working closely with both technical and business teams.

The position encourages the responsible and effective use of AI tools to support coding, test case generation, result analysis, documentation, troubleshooting, and accelerated technical learning.

Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements to understand the expected application behavior.
• Create, maintain, and execute automated test cases for APIs, backend services, and applications.
• Execute automated test suites and analyze test execution results.
• Investigate failed tests and determine whether issues originate from application defects, test scripts, configurations, test data, or environments.
• Create and document defects, including logs, evidence, root cause analysis, and reproduction steps.
• Use AI tools responsibly where appropriate to support test automation, debugging, documentation, and faster technical issue analysis.
• Support functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing activities.
• Maintain and improve existing automation scripts and frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Test Engineers, and DevOps teams.
• Contribute to quality reporting and test execution monitoring.
• Learn project-specific applications, technologies, and business processes.
• Continuously improve testing and automation practices.

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in software development, software testing, or quality assurance.
• Good knowledge of Java.
• Basic understanding of software testing concepts and the defect lifecycle.
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
• Basic SQL knowledge and ability to work with databases.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to investigate issues in a structured and methodical manner.
• Experience with Git or similar version control systems.
• Good English communication skills.
• Strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
• Willingness to responsibly use AI tools to improve productivity, test coverage, troubleshooting speed, and documentation quality.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or REST Assured.
• Experience with Postman or API testing.
• Previous use of AI tools for coding, test automation, test case generation, debugging, documentation, or productivity improvement, including GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar solutions.
• Experience with JUnit or TestNG.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience with Jira, Zephyr, Xray, or similar tools.
• Experience in log analysis and application troubleshooting.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools.
• Basic understanding of microservices architectures.
• Experience working in banking, payments, or regulated environments.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Spring Boot.
• Exposure to Docker or Kubernetes.
• Cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
• Messaging systems such as Kafka, JMS, or RabbitMQ.
• ISTQB certification.
