Full description
Sleep Country/Dormez-vous? is seeking a Data Systems Analyst to support the development, validation, and delivery of business reporting solutions across the organization. Reporting to the Director, Data Engineering, this role works closely with business stakeholders and data engineering teams to build reports from existing semantic models, validate data quality, document reporting requirements, and support user adoption of BI tools. The successful candidate will help ensure accurate, reliable, and accessible data is available to business users for informed decision-making.
In this current open role you will:
- Build and maintain reports using existing semantic models, extending measures, visuals, and dashboards to answer business questions without duplicating logic.
- Validate the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of reports by reconciling data against source systems and identifying gaps before release to end users.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing with business stakeholders, including managing test cycles, logging and resolving defects, and securing formal sign-off.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into clear, detailed report specifications that can be used for development.
- Create and maintain clear documentation, including report specifications, metric definitions, migration mapping, and business scenario documentation used by both technical and business teams.
- Support self-service reporting adoption through user training, guided walkthroughs, and documentation that reduces repeat requests.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to define reporting needs, align on metric definitions, and ensure reporting outputs meet business expectations.
- Contribute to source system documentation and business scenario mapping to support data model design and reporting consistency.
The qualifications and experience we like to see:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data, Analytics, or a related field.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in a data analyst, BI analyst, data systems, data engineering, data platforms, or analytics-related role.
- Strong SQL skills, with the ability to profile, join, and reconcile data across large and imperfect datasets independently.
- Experience working directly with source system data such as ERP, POS, OMS, or e-commerce platforms, rather than only consuming curated warehouse or reporting layers.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise BI platforms such as Qlik, Power BI, or Domo, experience with Tableau or similar tools is also relevant.
- Experience supporting reporting or analytics in retail, e-commerce, or a multi-channel operating environment is preferred.
- Proven ability to work directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and align on metric definitions.
- Strong documentation skills, with the ability to create clear artifacts that business and technical teams can rely on.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Ability to support user enablement through training, walkthroughs, and clear communication.
