Manager, Software Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Software Engineering based in the United States.

The Manager, Software Engineering will provide hands-on technical leadership for an agile engineering team while remaining actively involved in software development. This role combines people leadership, architecture, coding, delivery management, and engineering modernization. You will guide engineers through complex technical initiatives while helping establish consistent, scalable, and high-quality delivery practices. Working closely with Product and QA teams, you will translate roadmap priorities into effective engineering execution and reliable software outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to influence architecture, cloud engineering, development standards, and operational reliability. You will also mentor engineers, strengthen team effectiveness, and introduce modern tools and methodologies, including AI-enabled development practices. Success requires strong technical depth, a collaborative leadership style, and a willingness to stay close to the code and engineering challenges.

Accountabilities:

• Lead technical execution for an agile software engineering team, ensuring priorities, development activities, and deliverables remain aligned with business and product objectives.

• Provide hands-on technical leadership across software architecture, development, troubleshooting, and implementation.

• Remain actively involved in coding and technical decision-making while balancing engineering leadership responsibilities.

• Guide architecture and modernization initiatives designed to improve scalability, maintainability, reliability, and engineering efficiency.

• Mentor engineers through technical challenges, career development, code quality practices, and effective software delivery approaches.

• Establish and improve engineering processes, standards, and development practices that promote consistent, high-quality delivery.

• Partner closely with Product and QA teams to coordinate roadmap execution, manage dependencies, and resolve technical or delivery challenges.

• Support full-stack engineering activities across backend, frontend, cloud infrastructure, and related development environments.

• Improve operational reliability by identifying engineering risks, addressing technical issues, and implementing sustainable solutions.

• Encourage the effective adoption of modern development tools, including AI-powered engineering tools and methodologies.

• Provide day-to-day technical coordination and ensure clear communication across engineering and cross-functional stakeholders.

• Contribute directly to initiatives spanning product, platform, and engineering capabilities that improve customer experience and business outcomes.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including strong expertise in C#/.NET and modern UI frameworks such as React.js.

• Demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring software engineers.

• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities spanning backend development, frontend technologies, cloud environments, and software architecture.

• Experience with AI development tools, AI-assisted engineering practices, and modern software development methodologies.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms.

• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, development lifecycle practices, and operational reliability.

• Ability to remain technically hands-on while providing leadership, direction, and mentorship to an engineering team.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, Product, QA, and other stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on simplifying systems and improving engineering outcomes.

• Ability to balance technical quality, delivery priorities, team effectiveness, and broader business objectives.

• A continuous-improvement mindset and enthusiasm for building, modernizing, and simplifying software systems.
