THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of customer projects, we're seeking a talented Control Systems Support Engineer to join our Customer Service team based in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane.
In this role, you'll provide technical support and engineering expertise for sophisticated automated material handling systems. You'll be responsible for system diagnostics, controls upgrades, PLC programming, commissioning activities, customer support, and continuous improvement initiatives across our customer sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex systems, working directly with customers, and delivering innovative automation solutions in mission-critical environments.
- Hours of Work: Monday to Friday
- On Call Roster: approximately 10 weeks per annum
Tasks and Qualifications:
WHAT YOU WILL BE WORKING ON
- Providing second level technical support to maintenance team as required
- Participate in the On-Call after hours support roster
- Conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work
- Prepare/assist with budget costing and quoting
- Development of functional specifications
- Complete regular system diagnostics and analysis procedures and provide customer reports
- Preparation of PLC programs and configuration of SCADA and PLC-related equipment e.g. HMI’s, Scanners, Roller drive-cards and VSD’s
- Report on designed/installed equipment which is not performing to the design specifications
- Testing and commissioning systems on site
- Preparation of test plans and operator & technical manuals
- Training client personnel and providing customer support
- Assist with interstate or some overseas projects when required
SETTING YOU UP FOR SUCCESS
- Degree qualified: engineering or scientific discipline or electrical trade with tertiary qualifications in the areas of engineering /electronics/mechatronics
- Electrical trades licence qualification is highly regarded
- Knowledge of configuration, programming and commissioning of PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred), variable speed drives, barcode scanners and safety devices
- Knowledge of SCADA applications like ICONICS, CITEC and WINCC
- Knowledge of materials handling system controls is highly desirable such as conveyors and sortation
- Ability to work without supervision and guide teams/projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Electrical trades licence qualification is highly regarded
- Flexibility to travel interstate, regional areas and overseas
