Why HRCI:

  • We are a Washington Post Top Workplace, three years running (2024-2026)!
  • Be part of a dynamic and passionate team of professionals focused on driving the organization forward.
  • Have the autonomy to grow your career and opportunities for professional development.
  • Highly rewarding work in a fun, team-oriented culture.
  • Great benefits (health insurance, generous time off, 401(k) match, parental leave) and a flexible working environment.

Position Overview:

The Product Manager is responsible for driving the day-to-day management, development, and performance of assigned products across the HRCI portfolio, with particular focus on advancing new product lines and innovation initiatives. This role translates organizational strategy and customer needs into clear product requirements, roadmaps, and launch plans. The ideal candidate is a versatile, business-minded generalist who understands what a product needs to succeed and how it should be positioned and marketed to customers – equally comfortable digging into customer needs, product requirements, and go-to-market considerations.

Product Planning & Roadmap Management

  • Own and maintain the roadmap for assigned products, balancing customer needs, business priorities, and resource constraints.
  • Translate strategic direction from the VP, Marketing & Product Strategy into actionable product requirements and release plans.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Market Research & Insights, evaluate market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback reviews to inform product decisions.
  • Prioritize product-related initiatives and manage trade-offs between new features, enhancements, and maintenance work.

Product Development & Innovation

  • Work with the VP, Marketing & Product Strategy to identify, evaluate, and develop new/existing product lines and innovation opportunities.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to build business cases, define minimum viable products, and pilot new offerings.
  • Gather and synthesize customer and market insights to identify gaps and emerging opportunities.
  • Track and report on product performance, recommending adjustments as needed.

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Partner closely with the HRCI leadership team to ensure product plans translate into well-run, on-time launches, leveraging project management expertise to keep initiatives on track.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to plan and execute launch campaigns and ongoing product marketing and promotions.
  • Serve as the day-to-day product subject matter expert for cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Work with marketing and revenue leadership to determine pricing and packaging opportunities. Coordinate with technology and content teams to ensure product features are delivered on time and to specification.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track key product performance metrics, including revenue, adoption, engagement, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor product performance across the broader HRCI portfolio and recommend optimization, repositioning, or sunset decisions.
  • Facilitate ongoing product improvements based on performance, customer feedback, and usage data.

The Skills You Need to Succeed:

  • 6+ years of progressive, relevant work experience with at least 2-3 years of direct experience in product management or a closely related field (e.g., marketing, business analysis, eCommerce)
  • Experience managing products through the full product lifecycle, including discovery, requirements definition, launch, adoption, optimization, and sunset planning.
  • Demonstrated experience translating customer needs, market research, and business objectives into actionable product requirements and priorities.
  • Experience analyzing product performance metrics, customer feedback, and market trends to inform product decisions and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrated experience working with project management tools (e.g., Asana), required
  • Experience using marketing automation software (e.g., HubSpot), desirable
  • Experience in certification, learning or credentialing, desirable
  • Experience supporting or contributing to new product development and innovation efforts.
  • Strong general business acumen, with the ability to understand customer needs, market dynamics, and how they translate into product decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to move seamlessly between customer insights, product strategy, requirements definition, go-to-market planning, and product performance optimization.
  • Strong product management fundamentals, including road mapping, prioritization, and requirements definition.
  • Working knowledge of marketing principles (positioning, messaging, go-to-market) sufficient to partner effectively with the marketing team, not just hand off requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, technology, learning, and business stakeholders, including partnering with project management leads to ensure execution.
  • Comfort using data and customer insights to inform decisions and measure product performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple products or initiatives simultaneously and adapt across business, product, and marketing conversations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or another relevant field, highly desirable.

Salary range: $90,000 - 105,000/year; Compensation is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant education and experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic location.
