This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr Scientist, Molecular Biology Scientific Data based in United States.
As a Sr Scientist, Molecular Biology Scientific Data, you will serve as the scientific business owner for digital tools, workflows, and data supporting molecular cloning and individual construct and plasmid design across biologics discovery. You will bridge scientific teams and technology functions, translating research needs into clear product priorities, data requirements, and scalable digital capabilities. The role combines deep molecular biology expertise with scientific informatics, data modeling, and product ownership. You will help shape how sequences, constructs, vectors, plasmids, and related experimental data are represented and connected across scientific systems. You will also guide implementation, testing, training, and adoption of new capabilities while helping improve data quality and consistency. Your work will enable stronger downstream analytics, automation, and ML/AI-enabled discovery in a collaborative, science-driven environment.

Accountabilities:
- Serve as a knowledgeable point of contact for molecular biologists, cloning scientists, protein engineers, and other biologics discovery users, understanding their workflow and technology needs.
- Translate complex scientific requirements into structured workflow, data, and system requirements that can be clearly understood and implemented by software engineers and business analysts.
- Partner with technology teams throughout solution design, implementation, testing, release, and adoption, ensuring delivered capabilities address the original scientific objectives.
- Define and maintain data models supporting individual construct and plasmid design, including established and emerging individual-molecule formats and their relevant scientific relationships.
- Establish the data linkages and relationships required across scientific applications and collaborate with data and technology teams on implementation and ongoing maintenance.
- Lead scientific requirements reviews, user acceptance testing, troubleshooting, release readiness, training, and adoption activities using representative workflows, molecule formats, data, and edge cases.
- Establish and reinforce standardized approaches for capturing high-quality molecular biology design data across relevant workflows and systems.
- Provide scientific context as workflows and molecule formats evolve, helping identify data gaps and improve consistency and quality across scientific applications.
- Support the development of scientific data capabilities that are ready for downstream automation, analytics, machine learning, and AI-enabled discovery.
- Own or contribute to scientific product roadmaps, workflow priorities, feature backlogs, and implementation decisions in partnership with scientific and technical stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Doctorate degree, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Degree in Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering, Structural Biology, or a related scientific discipline is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of molecular cloning and plasmid design workflows, supported by hands-on experience with cloning or individual construct design in a research or biotechnology environment.
- Expertise in antibody-based molecule formats, including antibody fragments and multispecific molecules, with the ability to understand domain organization across and within chains and its impact on molecular architecture.
- Experience translating scientific workflows into informatics tools, structured data, standardized processes, and implementation guidance for technical teams.
- Experience owning or stewarding a scientific product, workflow, data domain, roadmap, feature backlog, or comparable scientific technology initiative.
- Working knowledge of scientific data modeling concepts, controlled terminology, metadata, identifiers, entity relationships, versioning, data lineage, and cross-system integration.
- Experience with sequence design, construct registration, laboratory informatics, or comparable scientific platforms.
- Experience leading requirements reviews, user acceptance testing, troubleshooting, release readiness, and user adoption initiatives.
- Familiarity with agile software delivery methodologies and preparing scientific data for analytics, machine learning, or AI applications.
- Strong facilitation, prioritization, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across scientific, data, and technology teams.
- Self-directed and adaptable, with the ability to translate scientific complexity into practical digital and data solutions.
