Full description

6-Month Consulting Engagement

Maya HTT is a world leading developer of digital industries software solutions. The world’s top tier engineering and manufacturing organizations rely on Maya’s experience and expertise to achieve the full potential of their software investment. Maya HTT is also a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for the Siemens PLM Software products, with a focus on CAE-based simulation and providing engineering services, including software training, migration, implementation, and custom development, along with consulting.

About the Role

Maya HTT is evolving the user experience around our thermal simulation technology with a modern engineering application focused on thermal and systems modeling. The project builds on technology that has long been used within enterprise engineering environments while providing a streamlined experience tailored to thermal modeling, analysis, and results interpretation.

We are seeking an experienced UI/UX consultant to work alongside our Product Owner to define the UI/UX strategy, wireframes, workflows, and interaction patterns for this application over a six-month engagement. This is primarily a product design engagement: helping shape how the application should look, feel, and flow, in close collaboration with the Product Owner, software development team, and domain (thermal/CAE) engineers.

This is not a generic SaaS or consumer application project. The ideal candidate has experience designing interfaces for engineering simulation, CAD, CAE, PLM, scientific, or other technically sophisticated software where usability must coexist with deep functionality, dense information, and expert users.

Rather than simply reproducing existing workflows, we're looking for someone who can study established engineering applications, understand where users encounter unnecessary complexity or friction, and help design an experience that is more intuitive, efficient, and approachable while preserving the capabilities expected by experienced engineers.

Mandate & Duration

  • Six-month fixed-term consulting engagement
  • Extension possible based on project needs and roadmap
  • Work directly with the Product Owner through at least one major product milestone

Technology Stack

  • TypeScript
  • SolidJS

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing CAE and engineering simulation workflows to identify opportunities for improved usability, efficiency, and clarity
  • Partner with the Product Owner to define the application's UX strategy, information architecture, navigation, and interaction model
  • Design wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for core engineering workflows
  • Define user journeys for domain-specific interactions including thermal model definition and setup, solver configuration, and reporting
  • Establish and document a scalable design system and component library appropriate for a data-dense engineering application
  • Work closely with Product Owner and developers to ensure designs are practical, implementable, and consistent throughout development
  • Conduct usability reviews with internal engineers and, where possible, customers or beta users
  • Balance expert-user productivity with discoverability and ease of learning for newer users
  • Deliver design documentation, workflows, prototypes, and handoff materials that can be maintained by the internal team

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of UI/UX design experience
  • Demonstrated experience designing complex technical or scientific software (CAE, CAD, PLM, Simulation, GIS, EDA, Industrial software)
  • Portfolio demonstrating UX work for sophisticated expert-user applications rather than primarily consumer products
  • Strong proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or equivalent design tools
  • Ability to produce developer-ready wireframes, interaction flows, and design documentation
  • Comfortable collaborating directly with Product Owners, software engineers, and technical domain experts
  • Ability to improve established interaction patterns using sound UX principles, workflow analysis, and user-centered design
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills (French is an asset)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with commercial CAE environments such as Siemens Simcenter 3D, Ansys Workbench, Thermal Desktop, COMSOL Multiphysics, or similar engineering simulation tools
  • Experience designing interfaces for engineering simulation applications, including thermal, structural, CFD, or systems modeling
  • Experience creating design systems for TypeScript or SolidJS applications
  • Basic knowledge of C or C#
  • Familiarity with aerospace, satellite, or industrial thermal engineering domains
