QA Automation Engineer – Java, Python, Playwright & Selenium

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer with 5+ years of relevant professional experience in QA, development, and automation to join the Negative News Screening Squad.

This is a hands-on QA Automation role focused on solving complex testing problems through the development, coding, configuration, and maintenance of test automation programs, tools, and frameworks. The role supports efficient technical testing solutions, a continuous test environment, and a strategic QA framework.

The Automation Test Engineer will work closely with Development and Business Team members based in Mumbai and New York. The role incorporates DevOps, Scrum, Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery practices to improve test coverage, identify defects early, and support reliable software delivery.

Software Requirements

Required Skills

• 5+ years of relevant professional experience in QA, development, or automation.

• Experience designing end-to-end testing frameworks.

• Experience coding and maintaining back-end automation frameworks using Java and Python.

• Experience coding and maintaining front-end automation frameworks using JavaScript, Angular, Playwright, and Selenium.

• Experience defining and automating functional tests using TDD and BDD frameworks.

• Experience with at least one of Concordian, JBehave, or Cucumber.

• Proficiency in traditional RDBMS schema concepts and SQL.

• Experience with test strategy, planning, estimation, execution, and reporting.

• Knowledge of source code management tools such as Git, Perforce, or VSS.

• Proficiency in continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Maven.

• Experience working with DevOps and agile methodologies, including Scrum.

• Ability to perform manual testing where automated coverage is incomplete.

• Ability to perform initial diagnosis when automated test suites fail.

• Develop and configure software that delivers test automation suites aligned with business coverage objectives.

• Design, code, enhance, and maintain end-to-end testing frameworks.

• Code and maintain back-end automation frameworks using Java and Python.

• Code and maintain front-end automation frameworks using JavaScript, Angular, Playwright, and Selenium.

• Define and automate functional tests using TDD and BDD frameworks.

• Perform initial diagnosis and investigation when automated test suites fail.

• Determine whether test failures relate to application defects, automation defects, test data, configuration, or environment issues.

• Learn and understand the business domain and application architecture.

• Perform manual testing to cover missing automated test cases.

• Embed within a DevOps team and collaborate on projects throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Day-to-Day Activities

• Review requirements, acceptance criteria, technical designs, and application changes.

• Identify suitable automated and manual testing approaches.

• Design test scenarios and select appropriate test data.

• Develop, configure, and maintain automation scripts and framework components.

• Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines.

• Execute functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end tests.

• Review failed test runs and perform initial diagnosis.

• Reproduce issues and identify whether they relate to application code, automation code, test data, configuration, or environment conditions.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirements: Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Equivalency: Relevant professional experience demonstrating the required QA, automation, programming, and testing capabilities may be considered in place of formal education.

• Certifications: QA, test automation, agile, DevOps, or software development certifications are preferred.

• Training: Role-specific training in the Negative News Screening business domain, application architecture, Synechron QA and DevOps procedures, security and data protection practices, project frameworks, coding standards, testing environments, and reporting processes.
