As a Software Engineer (Intermediate, React) at Syspro, you will own the design, build, and delivery of user-facing components and features using React and modern front-end technologies, contributing meaningfully to front-end architecture and design decisions. You will navigate ambiguity and complexity with minimal oversight, mentor junior engineers, and help drive engineering quality, performance, and usability within your team.This is a hands-on engineering role with growing expectations for technical ownership, sound design judgement, and peer mentoring. Minimum Level of Education• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems etc.)

Minimum Experience• 4 - 6 years of software development experience, with demonstrated ownership of components or technical areas
- Professional experience in React and TypeScript, including component architecture, React Hooks, routing, and state management
- Experience navigating ambiguity and making trade-off decisions with minimal oversight
- Solid experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs and back-end services, including asynchronous JavaScript and JSON data handling
- Practical experience with modern front-end build and package-management tooling (e.g., npm, Vite, or Webpack), and Git-based source control
- Practical experience working in an agile delivery environment and using Azure DevOps (or equivalent)
Beneficial Experience
- Experience in enterprise software, ERP, SaaS, or complex multi-team product environments
- Familiarity with back-end technologies (e.g., C#/.NET) and API design, to support effective collaboration with back-end engineering teams
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (Jest, Vitest, React Testing Library) and browser-based end-to-end testing (Playwright, Cypress, or similar)
- Experience with design systems, component libraries, and modern styling approaches (CSS Modules, Sass, or CSS-in-JS)
- Exposure to cloud platforms and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)

Customer and product focus: understands how front-end engineering decisions affect usability, performance, and the experience delivered to end users
- Design, develop, test, and maintain components and features using React, TypeScript, and modern front-end technologies.
- Own components and features end-to-end: analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Build reusable React components, implementing routing, state management, and component composition using functional components and hooks.
- Translate product requirements and UX designs into production-quality solutions, working closely with UX/UI to implement designs accurately.
- Integrate front-end applications with REST APIs and back-end services, handling asynchronous JavaScript and JSON data.
- Contribute to front-end architecture discussions, bringing sound technical judgement to component design and state-management decisions.
- Apply SOLID and component-design principles (composition, reusability, separation of concerns) to the features you build.
- Debug and resolve issues in unfamiliar or complex parts of the front-end codebase.
- Apply distributed-systems thinking (resilience, scalability, cost optimisation) to the front-end services and integrations you own.
- Consider SaaS delivery factors, such as scalability and multi-tenancy, when building components and features.
- Promote sound test strategy and help the team improve automated test coverage (unit, component, integration).
- Optimise front-end performance (load time, rendering, bundle size) and follow recognised accessibility (WCAG) practices.
- Apply secure front-end development practices and follow Syspro’s secure coding standards.
- Mentor junior engineers on code quality and clarity through reviews and pairing.
- Customise Azure DevOps boards, automate workflows, and manage build and release pipelines.
- Resolve merge conflicts and rebasing issues, and keep CI/CD pipeline configuration up to date.
- Contribute to modernising legacy user interfaces into modern, componentised React experiences, under senior engineering guidance.
- Collaborate with Product, UX/UI, Architecture, Quality, and back-end engineering teams to deliver outcomes.
- Clarify requirements, edge cases, and trade-offs with Product and other stakeholders, and help prioritise features based on business impact.
- Lead technical discussions within the team and handle disagreements constructively.
- Coach teammates on Agile best practice and facilitate syncs with other teams.
- Own delivery of features that span team boundaries, seeing them through from design to production.
- Navigate ambiguous requirements and make sound trade-off decisions with minimal oversight.
- Support technical decisions in planning sessions.
- Drive retrospectives and continuous improvement, and help decompose epics into deliverable, well-scoped work.
- Support peers’ growth by helping them plan their own development.
- Identify and drive improvements in how the team works together.
- Surface technical risks, dependencies, and impediments early.
