TITLE: Director - Business Intelligence and Analytics (J. Crew Group, LLC)
LOCATION: New York, NY (A hybrid work schedule may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite, in accordance with company policies.)
DUTIES: Lead and develop a high-performing BI team (analysts and consultants). Provide regular coaching, set clear performance expectations, and support professional development. Develop and drive the enterprise-wide analytics strategy across Madewell, J.Crew, and J.Crew Factory, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand needs. Champion best practices in analytics, data visualization, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance data-driven decision-making. Act as a bridge between technical teams and business leaders (Merchandising, Planning & Allocation, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing, etc.). Proactively communicate priorities, negotiate requirements, and align BI initiatives with organizational goals. Work closely with senior stakeholders to translate their needs into BI solutions. Define, implement, and uphold data governance and quality standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and integrity of data across all analytics initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed data stewardship practices and maintain trust in enterprise data assets. Own the full analytics lifecycle in an Agile environment. Translate business roadmaps into clear technical requirements, user stories, and backlogs. Manage data standardization, ETL, and data modeling processes so that reports and dashboards are accurate and consistent. Oversee external BI vendors and development partners as needed, managing contracts, deliverables, and performance. Coordinate analytics efforts across international or remote teams, optimizing processes and ensuring consistent methodology. Stay current on emerging analytics and AI technologies. Explore and implement advanced solutions (such as machine learning or LLM-powered “agentic analytics”) to automate insight generation and support data-driven decision-making at scale.
REQTS: Must have a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Analytics, Information Systems, Business Intelligence, or a related field plus eight (8) years of experience in the retail industry in the position offered, as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or a related position. Must have eight (8) years of experience with all of the following: Developing and automating enterprise-level and executive-facing analytical solutions using BI tools including SAP BW HANA, QlikView/Qlik Sense, and SAP Business Objects; Handling large, complex datasets from multiple sources using SQL and BI tools, including integration, validation, and testing data, reports, and automated pipelines; Translating business requirements into actionable tasks and Jira stories while applying Agile and Scrum methodologies to manage backlogs and deliver end-to-end analytics and BI solutions; Facilitating cross-functional stakeholder alignment and requirements prioritization for enterprise BI initiatives; Leading user enablement through training sessions and workshops related to the use and sharing of enterprise Power BI reports and dashboards in accordance with BI standards; Supporting BI platform administration activities related to user access, security permissions, report promotion across development and production environments, and platform stability. Must include four (4) years of experience with all of the following: Leading or supervising teams of analysts and managing workloads, priorities, and deliverables; Driving the strategy and design of enterprise-wide and executive-level analytics solutions and enabling automation to deliver scalable BI platforms aligned with business objectives; Building enterprise dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI, leveraging Power Automate and Dataflow for scheduled refresh and delivery; Maintaining and enhancing BI data models and metrics in Snowflake using SQL and DAX query language, including model management, to support enterprise reporting; Administering version control of Power BI reports and dashboards by performing repository maintenance and tracking changes to data models and reports using Git-based version control tools. Must include one (1) year of experience with all of the following: Architecting and implementing AI/LLM-powered agentic analytics solutions that enhance enterprise decision-making and operational efficiency; Designing and orchestrating scalable data transformation workflows using dbt, incorporating automated testing, version control with GitHub, and documentation best practices to deliver analytics-ready data models; Evaluating third-party AI and analytics solutions for enterprise fit, and managing vendor relationships, solution assessments, and implementation coordination.
HOURS: Full time; Mon- Fri (40 hrs/week)
SALARY: $169,541.00 - $250,000.00 per year
