About the Role:
Hyperscale Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, safety, financial management, and successful delivery of telecommunications and low-voltage infrastructure projects within hyperscale data center environments. This position serves as the primary point of contact for customers, field leadership, vendors, and subcontractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements and company standards
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage multiple hyperscale data center projects throughout the entire project lifecycle, from project handoff through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, manpower plans, procurement schedules, and reporting requirements.
- Establish a thorough understanding of project requirements, including contractual obligations, project scope, schedules, technical requirements, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
- Collaborate with customers, construction managers, telecommunications managers, field supervisors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project financial performance, including labor productivity, material costs, billing, forecasting, revenue recognition, and profitability.
- Monitor project progress and communicate status, risks, schedule impacts, and mitigation plans to internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate the procurement, delivery, and tracking of materials, equipment, and tools required for project execution.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, scope documents, bills of material, RFIs, and change requests.
- Prepare, price, negotiate, and manage change orders for work outside the original scope of the project.
- Partner with Operations and Safety teams to ensure compliance with all customer, company, and site-specific safety requirements.
- Support field teams by providing project direction, resolving issues, and removing obstacles that may impact project success.
- Conduct project meetings, customer meetings, progress reviews, and project kickoff meetings.
- Track project milestones and key performance indicators using company systems, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Review and approve project-related invoices, timesheets, material purchases, and subcontractor documentation as required.
- Ensure project documentation is maintained and completed, including as-built drawings, testing results, warranties, turnover packages, and closeout documentation.
- Perform site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain strong customer, vendor, and subcontractor relationships to support current and future business opportunities.
- Other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction management, Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be substituted.
- 5+ years of project management experience within telecommunications, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, or mission-critical construction environments.
- Experience managing projects within data center or hyperscale environments STRONGLY preferred.
- Strong understanding of structured cabling systems, fiber optic infrastructure, telecommunications pathways, and low-voltage construction practices.
- Proven ability to manage project budgets, labor forecasts, schedules, procurement activities, and project profitability.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, schedules, and scope documents.
- Experience preparing estimates, quotations, and change order pricing.
- Strong organizational, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, field personnel, subcontractors, and executive leadership.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting critical deadlines.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and customer-management skills.
