Job Description

Ready to work with some of EDF's largest and most business critical datasets? Want to build data products that drive key financial decisions, work across the full engineering lifecycle, and help shape how data is used across the business? At EDF, Success is Personal and you'll grow your data engineering career your way.

The Opportunity

As a Data Engineer in our Finance Systems and Analytics team, you'll help design, build and maintain data products that power insight across key financial systems. Working at the heart of Finance, you'll contribute to solutions that support decision-making at scale and help drive business performance.

Alongside a competitive salary and potential for an annual bonus, this role offers flexible working with occasional travel to our #Exeter or #London offices. You'll benefit from a hybrid approach, giving you the flexibility to balance remote working with team collaboration.

You'll work across the full data lifecycle in a DevOps environment from discovery and design through to build, deployment and optimisation. This is an opportunity to work with large scale, complex datasets, modern engineering practices and cross functional teams to deliver solutions that create real commercial value. As part of a growing and evolving data capability, you'll have the opportunity to develop new technical skills, contribute fresh ideas and help improve how data and analytics are used across Finance.

Who You Are

As a Data Engineer, you're comfortable working with complex data and systems, and you take a structured, delivery-focused approach. You're naturally curious, enjoy solving problems and are motivated by delivering outcomes that make a difference. You communicate clearly, work collaboratively within agile teams, and can translate technical concepts into meaningful business outcomes. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and scalable data products using structured and unstructured data
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, ideally within a Snowflake environment
  • Experience with at least one server-side language such as Python, Java, Kotlin or NodeJS
  • Knowledge of event-driven, loosely coupled architectures and data processing patterns
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub or Terraform
  • Experience applying test driven development or behaviour driven development approaches
  • Experience with automated testing techniques within data or software engineering environments
  • Ability to translate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building and maintaining scalable data products that deliver insight across finance systems
  • Designing and optimising ETL processes to ensure data integrity and performance
  • Collaborating with engineers, analysts, and business teams to define and deliver data solutions
  • Contributing to agile delivery, including planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
  • Supporting the operational performance, monitoring, and reliability of data platforms
  • Working with large and complex datasets to support financial reporting, analysis and decision-making
  • Helping to evolve data engineering practices and identify opportunities to improve data quality, efficiency and business value
