Senior Business Intelligence Engineer

As the Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, you will be the primary owner of a data and reporting ecosystem that already exists but has never had a dedicated owner. Cloud pipelines, a dashboard portfolio, and integrations across core business platforms are already in place, and this role exists because that responsibility has outgrown being split across people with other priorities.

You will inherit this ecosystem, assess it, stabilize it, and then re-architect and extend it. You will own the cloud data environment day to day, own the internal dashboard environment, and make sure leadership across Operations, Finance, People and Talent, and Sales has accurate, timely data to make decisions. As we embed AI deeper into how we operate, this role is the foundation that makes that possible, since clean, well structured data is what AI tooling depends on.

Responsibilities

• Own and architect the GCP data environment, including BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run, and Cloud Storage, partnering with IT on security and access
• Write and maintain Python based ETL pipelines pulling data from source platforms such as Toggl, Rippling, Xero, and Salesforce into BigQuery
• Own the full Tableau dashboard portfolio end to end, including connections, SQL, refresh schedules, quality control, documentation, and bug resolution
• Build new dashboards for executive, director, and operational audiences that do not have reliable reporting today
• Own data integrity across the analytics layer, diagnosing whether issues sit in the pipeline, the dashboard, or the source system, and routing accordingly
• Be the first point of contact when a dashboard breaks or a pipeline fails, owning resolution rather than just escalation
• Partner with stakeholders across Business Operations, Finance, People and Talent, Sales, and IT to translate business needs into working data solutions

• A proven track record owning a data or reporting platform end to end with minimal oversight
• 8 or more years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or a hybrid of these
• 3 or more years of hands on experience with Google Cloud Platform, particularly BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Scheduler, Cloud Run, and Cloud Storage
• Strong Python development experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines, writing Python regularly rather than occasionally
• Advanced SQL skills with experience working in cloud data warehouses
• Experience designing and building Tableau dashboards from the ground up, not just consuming or modifying existing ones
• Strong ability to independently diagnose data problems across pipeline, dashboard, and source system layers
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
• Active use of AI as part of your engineering workflow, such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Codex, building with it day to day rather than only being familiar with it
• English proficiency at a B2 level or above

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in a professional services or project based organization
• Experience at organizations with 100 to 500 employees
• Azure experience
• Familiarity with data modeling and analytics engineering practices such as data build tool or dimensional modeling
• Experience supporting executive and director level reporting

Salary: $5,000-$7,500 USD per month
