Senior Systems Engineer – Integrated Product Support (IPS)

Location: Melbourne, Australia Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Tuesday-Thursday in office)

About the Role

World Fuel Government Solutions is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Integrated Product Support (IPS) to lead maintenance, supportability, reliability, and lifecycle engineering activities across complex Defence systems and equipment.

This role is ideal for an engineer who understands how equipment is maintained, supported, repaired, sustained, and managed throughout its operational lifecycle and can translate that knowledge into practical maintenance strategies, support plans, technical documentation, and Defence sustainment deliverables.

You will play a critical role in defining maintenance concepts, supportability requirements, maintenance task analysis, sparing requirements, and sustainment strategies that support Defence capability through its entire service life.

This is not a traditional requirements-focused Systems Engineering position.

We are looking for someone who understands the practical realities of maintaining and supporting complex mechanical systems and can define the maintenance and support framework that enables equipment to remain safe, reliable, and operational.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead Integrated Product Support (IPS) and sustainment engineering activities across Defence programs.
  • Conduct Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) activities.
  • Define maintenance concepts, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle support plans.
  • Determine sparing requirements and supportability requirements.
  • Analyse OEM manuals, maintenance documentation, and technical data packages.
  • Develop sustainment, reliability, maintainability, and supportability strategies.
  • Support Defence sustainment and ASDEFCON deliverables.
  • Define maintenance frequencies, servicing requirements, and support concepts based on operational usage profiles.
  • Develop and review maintenance instructions, technical procedures, support documentation, and user manuals.
  • Support investigations into equipment failures, degradation, reliability concerns, and maintenance issues.
  • Partner with Defence customers, suppliers, systems engineers, and project teams.
  • Contribute to long-term sustainment and lifecycle management planning.
  • Mentor and support developing engineers within the team.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Australian Citizen able to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience developing maintenance strategies, maintenance concepts, support plans, or sustainment programs.
  • Experience conducting Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA), supportability analysis, or similar sustainment activities.
  • Strong understanding of:• Reliability
  • Maintainability
  • Supportability
  • Asset lifecycle management
  • Maintenance planning
  • Sparing analysis
