Job Requisition ID: 40528

  • Help shape and scale Deloitte's Enterprise Data Warehouse platform on Azure, Databricks and dbt, building trusted data foundations for analytics at scale
  • Tackle big issues like cyber, trust, resilience and digital transformation
  • Mentoring, coaching and leadership programs to help you make an impact that matters

Join our Sydney team in a hybrid Senior Data Engineer role where you'll build the data platform and pipelines that help turn complex enterprise data into trusted, usable insight.

What will your typical day look like?

This role is hands-on and deeply technical. You'll design and build production-grade data pipelines using Databricks and Azure Data Factory, develop robust transformations in dbt, and write performant SQL and Python to support reliable ETL and ELT in a cloud environment.

A big part of the role is making data dependable. That means integrating data across systems through APIs, improving pipeline performance and observability, and solving root-cause issues so analysts and business stakeholders can work from data they trust.

Working closely with engineers, analysts and stakeholders, you'll help lift engineering standards across the platform. You'll contribute to architecture and process improvements, take part in code reviews, and provide guidance to junior engineers while helping the team continuously improve how it builds and delivers.

About the team

The Enterprise Data Platform team builds and evolves the foundations that support reporting, analytics and data-led decision-making across the business. Using tools including Azure, Databricks, Azure Data Factory and dbt, the team focuses on creating scalable, maintainable and trusted data solutions that make complex data more accessible, useful and reliable.

Enough about us, let's talk about you

You may have all or some of the following skills/experiences:

  • 5+ years' experience delivering data engineering solutions in cloud environments
  • Strong hands-on capability in Databricks, Azure Data Factory, dbt, SQL and Python
  • Experience designing and building scalable, reliable and maintainable cloud-based data pipelines
  • A solid understanding of modern data architecture and ETL/ELT patterns
  • Experience using Git or Azure DevOps for version control and collaborative engineering practices
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
  • Confidence working with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to deliver trusted data outcomes
  • Nice to have: exposure to data modelling, data quality or observability tools, Microsoft Fabric, or Azure / Databricks certifications
