What We Are Looking For We are seeking a Data Integration Engineer with experience in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), custom data connector development, and data integration solutions. This role will support a large-scale manufacturing modernization initiative for a U.S. Navy submarine production environment, contributing to the development of a secure, AI-enabled workforce readiness platform. The ideal candidate will be responsible for gathering requirements, designing, building, testing, and documenting custom data connectors while collaborating with business, data, and engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and define requirements for custom data connectors that are not covered by the existing prebuilt connector library
  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Discovery teams, and Data Architects to identify data sources requiring custom connector development
  • Design, develop, and test custom connectors within the GFT development environment using sample and synthetic datasets
  • Build scalable data integration solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform services such as Dataflow, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run
  • Implement robust error handling, retry mechanisms, and dead-letter queue processes to ensure recoverability and reliability
  • Validate connector performance, functionality, and compliance with technical and business requirements
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, and integration activities across multiple manufacturing and operational systems
  • Document connector architecture, behavior, configurations, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer
  • Coordinate the transition and handoff of custom connector deployments to the Lead Data Engineer at defined project milestones
  • Participate in data governance and data quality initiatives to ensure accurate and reliable information processing
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of enterprise data modernization programs within secure and regulated environments

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Strong knowledge of Big Data solutions within Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience with Google Cloud database technologies
  • Experience developing custom data integration connectors and ingestion pipelines
  • Knowledge of Dataflow, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Run
  • Experience in Data Analysis and Data Modeling;
  • Experience with Data Management and Data Analysis practices
  • Knowledge of Data Governance principles
  • Experience with Data Integration and ETL processes
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements
  • Experience working with multiple data sources and integration patterns
  • Strong understanding of scalable cloud-based data architectures
  • Ability to document technical solutions and support knowledge transfer activities
  • Experience working in Agile project environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting manufacturing modernization initiatives
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP High, IL4, or similar cloud security frameworks
  • Experience with AI-enabled data platforms or analytics solutions
  • Familiarity with Looker analytics and reporting solutions
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud migration and data modernization projects
  • Knowledge of workforce enablement platforms and operational analytics
