Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

Our Development & Delivery Office is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to responsible for pragmatically planning, analyzing and documenting the business and problem domain for all Metrolinx departments and business units by supporting product owners in preparing and grooming the product backlogs and getting acceptance from users and customers.
What will I be doing?
- Capture, analyze, summarize, document, verbalize and present the critical and key value items from product development plans to senior management team members in a manner that clearly defines the benefits of proposed resource deployments.
- Develops a thorough understanding of all Metrolinx departments and business units’ goals, practices and processes to translate into goals and objectives for a project charter and user stories that define a product backlog
- Translates high-level, conceptual business strategies and objectives into user stories to guide design and development activities for project sponsors and product owners, using process mapping, interviews etc.
- Partners in the development of strategies for the application of technology; leads or participates in the development of business cases
- Investigates organization functions and processes and proposes improvements through automation and making best use of technology to improve effectiveness and customer-service experience
- Works with users to develop key business metrics and performance measures to identify and gauge effectiveness of tools relative to strategies and goals
- Facilitate the Scrum framework, shield the team from unnecessary distractions, remove impediments to progress, and guide both developers and the Product Owner toward continuous value delivery.
- Proactively identifies opportunities and prepares plans for new technology/automation or streamlining of business processes and workflows for project sponsors and product owners
- Provides leadership, coaching, guidance and direction to team members.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst working in Agile or Scrum team environment, writing user stories and managing product backlogs.
- Experience of large complex transformational projects and multiple simultaneous projects.
- Experienced in facilitation, conflict resolution, influencing, executive communication and stakeholder management.
- Business Analysis, Agile or Scaled Agile (SAFe) from a recognized institute.
- Experience with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with computerized quantitative and analytical tools (e.g. data modeling, workflows, and business process analysis) and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Interpersonal, oral/written/presentation communications skills to document and present business needs, specifications, reports, project documents, and implementation plans.
