ENTACT is actively seeking an experienced Project Manager - Dredging in the environmental remediation and marine construction industry. Candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US. Project locations will vary depending on the assignment. Candidates can reside anywhere within the US. ENTACT offers per diem/living allowance and paid trips home.

 

Position Summary:

The position of Project Manager - Dredging will assume the pivotal role of overseeing all on-site project operations (with particular emphasis on environmental sediment remediation and marine construction), meticulously ensuring that projects are executed with the utmost focus and adherence to safety, schedule, budget, and site plans. This individual will exhibit a high level of attention to detail, adept time management skills, and a “lead from the front” attitude. The Associate will direct and supervise a diverse team of Associates including project administrators, field engineers, and field managers. Associate must be open to periods of sustained project-based travel. HAZWOPER training is highly preferred but not required. Must have a valid Driver’s license with no driving restrictions which interfere with job requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for a safety culture that plans, leads, and directs safe work.

• Provide initial client contact to assess scope of work and resources required to successfully complete project.

• Assist with estimating and proposals of bid opportunities.

• Be able to understand/review project specifications, drawings, takeoff information, production rates, subcontractors and overall approach.

• Manage construction work to ensure project is constructed according to design, budget and schedule.

• Responsible for project schedules.

• Responsible for providing monthly cost and revenue forecasts.

• Responsible for accurate production reporting and interfacing with client representatives.

• Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions (scheduling, engineering, material control, provide day-to-day guidance of onsite administrative).

• Responsible for understanding of general contract administration and a complete understanding of all project contract requirements. Responsible for recognizing changes in project scope and or conditions.

• Provide technical assistance, interpretation of drawings, construction means and methods and equipment. Start and maintain extra work estimating and issuance of change orders.

• Responsible for productivity and performance of the projects.

• Work closely with Senior Project Managers and Project Directors to develop skills and knowledge of the sediment remediation and marine construction industry.

• Responsible for on-site management of projects which will require travel throughout the United States.

Skills/Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field.

• Six years minimum construction or environmental remediation experience.

• Competence in Primavera P6, Microsoft Projects, and AutoCAD software.

• Computer skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Projects, and Excel.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas of specialization: in-situ soil stabilization/solidification (ISS), environmental dredging (mechanical and/or hydraulic), in-water capping / cover placement, marine construction, barge operations, dredge sediment dewatering, water treatment, sheet pile installation, demolition, and mass earthwork.

• Familiar with USCG regulations applicable to the work

• Must have a valid driver’s license.

• HAZWOPER training and experience preferred.                                                       

Physical Demands/Visual Requirements:

Physical, visual and situational activities that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Ability to communicate effectively with management, co-workers, vendors, both individually and in front of a group.

• must be able to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.

• Regular use of the phone, email, text, teams and computer for communication. 

• Sitting for extended period.

• No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects may be required.

• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform such activities as viewing a computer, extensive reading, preparing and analyzing data and figures and decipher color.

• Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

• Must be capable of working under physical stress conditions such as heat stress and cold stress during various weather conditions and potentially long workdays.

• Ability to climb stairs and/ or ladders to reach and work from elevated platforms.

• Ability to grip handrails/ ladders with both hands.

• Hot, cold and pressure sensitivity in hands and feet.

• Must have a normal sense of smell.

• Donning of varying types of personal protective equipment (PPE) as project requirements and conditions warrant to include respirators.  Minimum PPE includes steel toe safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection and hi-visibility safety vest.

• Working in loud or noisy environments.

• Ability to give clear and precise verbal and written instruction to all crew members including when under pressure.

• Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness.

• See objects or movement of objects to one’s side when the eyes are focused forward.

• Hear the direction from which a sound originated.

• Must be able to walk on broken, unfirm, uneven ground.

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

• Job success often hinges upon interpersonal communication and relationship development skills, and job tasks require frequent interchange, and successful completion depends in large part upon effective interaction and communication with others.

• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.

• Ability to safely travel by air, car, train or bus.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions:

Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job include:

• Outside construction site, onsite office space.

• The terrain is rugged and may be difficult to navigate. 

• Confined spaces.

• Hot Environments.

• Noisy work environments controlled to levels at or below exposure limits.

• Contaminated atmosphere exposures (i.e. fumes, vapors, lead dust, H2S, etc.) controlled to levels at or below exposure limits.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Different types of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be worn including, but not limited to hard hat, hearing protection such as ear plugs or muffs, eye protection such as safety glasses, goggles, face shield, etc., welders helmet, safety vest, various types of gloves including leather, Nitrile, latex, etc., steel toe boots, and various respiratory protection such as dust masks, half face and full face respirators, SCBAs, APRs, etc. may be required depending on site conditions.  Respirator use may require that the user be clean shaven. Protective coveralls include cotton, Tyvek, fire retardant, chemical protective, etc.
