This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Analyst, Data Governance based in Canada.

This role focuses on strengthening data quality, governance, and trust across a large, complex organization. You’ll help establish standards, controls, and monitoring practices for critical data assets used across the business. Working with both business and technical stakeholders, you’ll investigate data issues, identify root causes, and drive practical improvements. The position combines hands-on data analysis with metadata management, reporting, documentation, and governance initiatives. You’ll use modern analytical and data-management tools to turn complex datasets into actionable insights and measurable outcomes. Your work will help improve data integrity, consistency, transparency, and decision-making across teams. This is an opportunity to build expertise in a collaborative, cross-functional environment while helping mature enterprise data practices.

Accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain data quality KPIs, scorecards, dashboards, and governance maturity assessments to monitor the health of critical data assets.
  • Design and implement data quality solutions, including data profiling, business rules, root-cause analysis, monitoring controls, and exception-management processes.
  • Analyze data health and trends, identify quality risks, and recommend preventive and corrective actions to improve data integrity.
  • Partner with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Category Managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to investigate and resolve data quality issues.
  • Gather, document, and maintain business metadata, business glossaries, data definitions, and data quality requirements.
  • Manage and enhance metadata repositories and data catalog content, ensuring information remains accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Develop and maintain data governance artifacts, including policies, standards, procedures, and supporting documentation.
  • Identify, classify, and govern critical, sensitive, and consent-related data elements across the organization.
  • Document and maintain data lineage, data flows, business processes, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
  • Use SQL, Python, Tableau, Cognos, Excel, and other analytical technologies to extract, analyze, monitor, and report on data quality.
  • Develop and automate reporting and monitoring solutions that support governance objectives and broader business priorities.
  • Promote data ownership, metadata management, data literacy, and governance best practices through stakeholder engagement, training, and communication.
  • Provide data governance and data quality expertise throughout project planning, solution design, and implementation activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Data Quality, or a related discipline.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting data governance frameworks, processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Experience developing data models, business process models, relationship diagrams, and data lineage documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with metadata management and data catalog platforms such as Alation or comparable tools.
  • Strong experience with Tableau and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Practical experience with SQL and data analysis tools, with the ability to work effectively with large and complex datasets.
  • Experience developing reporting and analytics solutions using Tableau, Cognos, Python, Excel, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of data quality platforms such as Informatica Data Quality or comparable solutions is an asset.
  • Experience performing data cleansing, identifying data quality trends, and translating analytical findings into practical recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data quality management, metadata management, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes, assess business impact, and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and encourage adoption of governance standards without relying on direct authority.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions within established business objectives.
  • Highly detail-oriented approach with a strong commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and quality.
