Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Fullstack Swift Developer for an 18-month contractual engagement in Albany, NY. In this role, you will lead end-to-end development using Swift across both client-facing applications (iOS/macOS/iPadOS/Web) and backend services (using Server-Side Swift frameworks such as Vapor or Perfect, REST/GraphQL APIs, and databases).

This is a critical, long-term project requiring hands-on experience in modern Swift architecture, cloud integration, database design, and high-performance full-stack application development.

Key Responsibilities

Client-Side (Frontend & Mobile)

  • Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable, and responsive user interfaces using SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern Apple ecosystem tools.
  • Implement design patterns (MVVM, VIPER, or Composable Architecture) to maintain clear code separation and high maintainability.
  • Optimize app performance, memory management, responsiveness, and offline/caching capabilities.

Server-Side (Backend & API)

  • Build and deploy scalable backend web applications and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Server-Side Swift frameworks (e.g., Vapor or Hummingbird).
  • Design, construct, and query relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQLite, MongoDB, Redis) using Swift ORMs (such as Fluent).
  • Ensure secure data handling, user authentication (OAuth2, JWT), data encryption, and authorization protocols across all layers.

DevOps & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including UI/UX designers, project managers, and enterprise architects.
  • Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment (Xcode Server, GitHub Actions, Fastlane, Docker).
  • Conduct thorough code reviews, enforce coding standards, and write unit, integration, and UI test suites.

Technical Qualifications & Experience

Required Skills

  • Core Language: Expertise in modern Swift 5+ syntax, concurrency (async/await, structured concurrency), memory management (ARC), and protocol-oriented programming.
  • Frontend/UI: 4+ years of hands-on experience with SwiftUI, UIKit, Combine, and Apple UI/UX Human Interface Guidelines.
  • Backend Development: Demonstrated experience in Server-Side Swift (Vapor, Hummingbird, or similar) or strong proficiency in backend microservices architecture.
  • Database Management: Solid grasp of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL stores, along with Swift ORMs (e.g., Fluent).
  • API Development: Experience writing and consuming RESTful APIs, WebSockets, and JSON processing.
  • Version Control & DevOps: Advanced proficiency with Git, Docker containers, and CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with cross-platform Swift deployment or Swift WebAssembly (Wasm).
  • Familiarity with enterprise deployment in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Knowledge of state government or public-sector IT compliance standards

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years focused on full-stack or end-to-end Swift development.
