Sr ERP Functional Analyst - Finance

Job Summary: The Senior ERP Functional Analyst – Finance serves as a hands-on internal functional SME for the organization’s ERP solution, with broad ownership across Finance, accounting, plant accounting, financial close, reporting, Cost Accounting, and related cross-functional ERP processes. This role works directly with Finance, Accounting, ERP team members, other departments and functional areas across the company, implementation partners, vendors, and external resources to connect business process knowledge with ERP functionality, system configuration, reporting, integrations, testing, issue resolution, and long-term process ownership.

This position applies deep functional Finance and ERP process knowledge, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, plant accounting, Cost Accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, production costing, variance analysis, financial close, reporting, integrations, controls, and adjacent operational processes. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand and support the full ERP process landscape, explain cross-functional impacts, troubleshoot issues, and help the business continue improving ERP-enabled Finance and costing processes after implementation.

Job Responsibilities:

Business Analysis, Requirements & Solution Design

• Partner with Finance, Accounting, business stakeholders, process owners, other IT workstreams, and implementation partners to identify business needs, operational gaps, process impacts, and improvement opportunities.
• Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and requirements gathering activities with Finance and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Document current-state and future-state Finance business processes, workflows, controls, and system impacts.
• Elicit, analyze, document, and manage functional and business requirements for Finance ERP processes, related integrations, interfaces, reports, and adjoining applications that support or impact Finance operations.
• Translate business requirements into functional specifications, user stories, process documentation, and solution design documentation.
• Evaluate ERP capabilities, integrations, interfaces, reporting needs, and adjoining application impacts against Finance business requirements and recommend scalable solutions that align with enterprise standards and business objectives.
• Collaborate with ERP consultants, developers, solution architects, integration teams, and implementation partners to ensure requirements are properly designed, built, tested, and delivered.
• Lead and support process standardization, adoption of Finance and Cost Accounting best practices, and appropriate use of system functionality across Finance, costing, and related operational processes.
• Conduct impact assessments, process analysis, root cause analysis, and solution recommendations for enhancement requests, production issues, reporting gaps, master data impacts, and new Finance-related projects.
• Support project estimation, scope definition, implementation planning, and prioritization of Finance ERP work.

ERP Functional SME & Cross-Functional Process Ownership

• Serve as an internal functional SME for Finance, accounting, plant accounting, Cost Accounting, financial month end close, reporting, and related ERP processes, helping translate business needs into practical ERP solutions and sustainable process ownership.

• Understand and support end-to-end ERP process touchpoints across Finance, procurement, inventory, manufacturing, production, supply chain, warehousing, sales/order management, reporting, master data, and integrations.
• Lead and influence functional design discussions, validate process impacts, challenge gaps or misalignment, and recommend standardized solutions that balance business requirements with ERP best practices.
• Partner with plant accounting, Finance, operations, and IT teams to support standard costing, inventory valuation, production costing, cost variances, month-end close, and plant-related financial processes.
• Drive issue resolution by performing root cause analysis, coordinating with business and technical resources, validating fixes, and ensuring outcomes are documented and supportable.

Testing, Deployment & Implementation Support

• Develop and execute test scenarios and test scripts, including unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing, and regression testing.
• Support defect tracking, root cause analysis, issue resolution, and validation of fixes during implementation, rollout, stabilization, and ongoing support.
• Assist with cutover planning, go-live readiness, deployment activities, Hypercare support, and transition to operational support.
• Work directly with Finance teams during testing, deployment, go-live, Hypercare, month-end support, and stabilization to validate processes, resolve issues, support adoption, and help ensure ERP solutions meet business needs.
• Support production stabilization, month-end close, plant accounting activities, and resolution of Finance, Cost Accounting, inventory, and manufacturing process or system issues following go-live.

Stakeholder Partnership & Change Management

• Act as a trusted advisor to Finance leaders, business process owners, project stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
• Facilitate training, workshops, stakeholder alignment sessions, and change management activities that support adoption of Finance ERP processes.
• Communicate risks, issues, decisions, recommendations, dependencies, and status updates clearly across stakeholders and project leadership.
• Build effective working relationships across Finance, business leadership, other IT workstreams, implementation partners, vendors, and consultants to support successful ERP outcomes.

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization

• Support pre- and post ERP go-live activities, including cutover, stabilization, Hypercare, month-end support, and ongoing operational readiness.
• Identify enhancement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives across Finance processes, ERP capabilities, interfaces, reports, and adjoining applications.
• Collaborate with Finance, other workstreams, vendors, and business teams to manage releases, upgrades, enhancements, and future Finance-related projects.
• Partner with reporting and BI teams to define report requirements, validate field mappings, reconcile ERP outputs to Finance expectations, and improve financial and operational reporting accuracy.
• Recommend process improvements that strengthen operational efficiency, controls, reporting, data quality, and standardization.

Experience:

• 8-12 years of experience in ERP implementations, business analysis, functional support, or ERP process ownership roles supporting Finance, plant accounting, Cost Accounting, and related operational processes.
• Experience leading requirements gathering, process analysis, solution design, testing, deployment, and ERP implementation activities.
• Strong functional experience supporting enterprise Finance and manufacturing cost processes, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, plant accounting, financial close, reporting, and controls.
• Experience working in or directly supporting a manufacturing, plant accounting, cost accounting, operations finance, or ERP-enabled Finance environment strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting cross-functional ERP process touchpoints across procurement, inventory, manufacturing, production, supply chain, warehousing, sales/order management, reporting, master data, and integrations preferred.
• Experience creating business requirements documents, functional specifications, process flows, user stories, test scripts, test plans, and implementation documentation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Finance business processes, ERP applications, enterprise financial operations, Cost Accounting, plant accounting, and related operational process impacts.
• Strong knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting, standard costing, inventory valuation, production costing, variance analysis, plant accounting, financial close, reporting, and related Finance controls.
• Strong knowledge of business analysis methodologies, requirements management, process mapping, solution design, and functional specification development.
• Knowledge of ERP implementation methodologies, software development lifecycle, testing practices, deployment readiness, and change management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to connect business process, ERP functionality, system design, reporting, data, integrations, controls, and operational impacts to recommend scalable solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and evaluate operational, financial, and system impacts.
• Ability to facilitate workshops, gather requirements, lead stakeholder discussions, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during implementation, rollout, and stabilization phases.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate risks, issues, decisions, and recommendations clearly.
• Ability to define report requirements, validate field mappings, reconcile ERP data outputs, and identify data quality or master data issues impacting Finance and operational reporting.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships across Finance, business leadership, other business workstreams, suppliers, consultants, and implementation partners.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and business analysis tools; experience with SQL, Power BI, ERP reporting tools, or data validation tools preferred.
• Ability to travel approximately 50% based on project phase, with heavier travel during testing, training, Hypercare, month-end support, and other critical implementation activities.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
