Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Controls– Shared Services is responsible for leading electrical and control engineering activities across all sectors of the business including but not limited to; extrusion, injection molding, converting (paper and plastic), printing operations, automation and packaging processes. This role provides technical leadership across all manufacturing facilities and drives standardization of improvements in safety, quality, and operational reliability to improve manufacturing performance. The position serves as the primary technical authority new and upgrades of control and all aspects of electrical service.
Key Responsibilities
Lead engineering activities and direct reports across all aspects of control and power engineering, including controls standardization, implementation standards, and the development of engineering talent. Responsibilities will include but not limited to power distribution, AC/DC drives, machine controls, communication of equipment and servo control specifications.
Reliability and Operational Support
Lead troubleshooting of complex electrical controls, and all related electrical distribution which may include support direct support of electric utility matters. Assist in developing reliability improvement strategies, support preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and improve operational stability across manufacturing sites.
Capital Projects and Technology Development
Develop equipment specifications, project scopes, technical justifications, and implementation plans. Lead equipment evaluations, FAT/SAT activities, startup support, commissioning activities, and technology implementation projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline. Minimum 10 years of control and electrical power specification and development of such systems with actual hands-on experience with such equipment.
Preferred Experience
Development of control and power system with experience of equipment specifications, installation, start-up and troubleshooting. Manage and develop other engineers for future advances in their knowledge and leadership.
Travel Requirements
Up to 50% travel to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and equipment vendors.
Success Metrics
Safety performance, OEE improvement, reliability improvement, startup success, project execution, standardization of implementations, communication at all levels of management, engineering capability development, and leadership of others.
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $165,000-$200,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
